Look I have been reading this forum a bit lately and this is my first post.

Greg Bird will never play for the sharks again there are alot of issues behind closed doors that alot of people on this forum obviously arnt aware of , if it was up to sticky he would but there are alot of other factors in which i wont post on a public forum. However next year we will be having a big play at another top shelf back rower who is coming off contract.

I believe he said "top shelf back rower"

Are we talking Hoffman? If so, forget it.

Luke O`donnell would be nice if he is off contract.

No not hoffman or luke o we were going to have a play for watmough. But seeing as orford has been released that frees up there cap space so might be a bit harder now.

Mate if we bagged watmough I would never cry birdy again!

When you said next yr, are we talking making a play for him for the 2010 season, or the 2011?

Give him 400k a yr, surely manly couldnt offer that with thier salary cap restrictions.

Try and sign him for 2011 as he is of contract at the end of 2010 alot depends on whether or not baz sticks around for 2011 and the development of wright and cuthbo if they come along then we will be having a play at a top shelf half and there is a couple on the wish list of a few people who mater within the club.

don't want watmough, he's too prone to doing dumb things off the field. Like punching sponsors... no need to give them any more reason to not give us money.

Anyway, I cry BS!

Come on mate, don't take it as a dig at you- the number of people claiming 'inside knowledge' on the web is enormous. Whatever info you have is valuable and maybe I should have shown more respect given I have no idea myself! But surely some skepticism is understandable given the amount of nonsense that floats around on the interwebs.

Please, your views and your knowledge are more than welcome here!

Watmough Gallen an Tupou, that is a world class back row if I've ever seen one.

Perhaps overkill though if you ask me.

Absolutely. Not enough balance (which has been our problem for a couple of years.)

We already have Gallen and Tupou and they will be backed up by Williams, Cuthbo, Wright etc. That is more than sufficient for the backrow. The money would be better spent elsewhere in my opinion.

That's a shame Tiger. Great White doesn't seem to post here anymore. With so many staffing changes at Sharks is it possible that Great White's "source" is no longer working for the Sharks?

As hitman posted in another thread, Moltzen's off that list as the Tigers extended him, Beau Ryan and Blake Ayshford yesterday.

One that's not on the list is David Milne from Canberra- does anyone know muhc about him? It seems he's definetely a 1st grade standard fullback, he's just got stuck behind Dugan who's grabbed his chance down there at the raiders. Milne's contracted til 2012 I think, but there may be some chance we could lure him away if he can't get a regular run on the wing down there. Their fans describe him as a fast, tackle-breaking fullback who's always the first to back up half breaks. Could be someone to have a look at.

Would it be possible to sign Thurston AND Jennings in 2011?

I know that might seem crazy, but where the hell is our salary cap going?
Toops and gals on 300 right? now correct me if Im wrong, but toops signed when ross and bird were still there and they were taking up 730 thousand of cap space yeah? Lets assume Baz will be out of the picture, that frees up another 300 k, to me, that adds up to one million dollars of cap space.

If you tell me this cant be done, then tell me how the hell can parra hold hayne, poore, hindmarsh, tahu, shackleton, cayless(hes the captain, he wouldnt be on peanuts right?) Inu, mateo (who is on 275 I believe)

Id love to here your thoughts boys, cheers. :cheers

i'd say we have no chance....

the salary cap covers your top 25 players(i think-someone will come in with the exact numbers i'm sure).i'd say most of our starting 17(fit and healthy-not like this year)would be on $100k a year(or more).some (galls, toops, dougy)much more than that.you've then got the rest of the squad.then there are contract upgrades for rep players-that comes out of your cap as well.

that all adds up to running very close to the line most seasons.

by 2011 jennings will be out of our range and i wont want thurston.

I believe I read the cap is 3.1 million. cut baz, cut covell, bump dougie up to 250 k.

I remember we offered reni something like 200 k a yr for 3 seasons, but he knocked it back and went for a cheap one yr deal because he "planned on having a very big year"

I see no major signings, big losses, surely there would be money there.

But hey, its only my opinion.
