Another flat track home series against weak opposition to earn Davie Warner an overseas tour spot where he will be sure to disappoint

There is something so sterile and unlikable about this Aussie cricket team, especially post sandpaper gate, they just seem so uninspired and have lacked good strong and bold leadership for a while. I don't like how stubborn our modern captains are and how they don't address at times some bizarre bowling plans

There are alot of good guys in there amongst some of the flogs and there is no doubt the quality we have in our fast bowlers and some bats like Lasagneshade but as a whole cohesive gelled package or unit it's just never done much for me. Maybe I was just spoiled over the Taylor, Waugh, Ponting, Clarke era's of Aussie Test squads

While it was fun watching our modern team humiliate/destroy a terrible England side and all not long ago, the team has had success in other test series as well like SA, Pakistan but they haven't troubled India too much. It's a team that just feels indefinitely unsettled in the batting line up and it could get worse in another year or so when some of the older blokes start to retire or get forced out and we need to bring in another new crop to see them get dropped after 2 games cause they weren't immediately successful and were not given a chance cause they were stuck behind frauds like Warner for so long.

How on earth can they leave Boland out for the sake of working to death the trio of Cummings, Hazlewood, Stark? In a series of Tests that really shouldn't trouble us. I do really like the selection of Cam Green though.

It wouldn't really bother me for the WI to get some wins/draws , would be great for the series and that cricket nation in general. I think most cricket fans just want to see a good tough contest on home soil, played in good spirit and our players heads and LG tv screens not getting too big.

Working to death Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood? It's the first test mate.

Also, I think the top 6 is more settled than it has been in at least 5 years.

No, look at the tests series prior to this home series, those bowlers haven't been getting rotated out of the squad. Then you have Captain Pat staying on the field yesterday despite being injured - not sure what they are trying to prove other than they don't trust anyone else to get the job done.

The Top 6 is a temp fix, some are nearing end of career and lets see how they go over in India where they nearly always fail. I reckon even England on how soil with give them some headaches.

Yeah but the last series wasn't recent. I'll agree with you if it's the case after a few more Tests.

What's temp fix about the top 6?

Warner is getting old, agree.
Usman is 35 but deserves his spot for a while yet.
Lasagna 28
Smith 33
Head 28
Green 23

There's not a lot wrong with that imo.

I'll agree with you on the overseas bit, Warner in partcular is terrible away from home.

Oh the Irony!

Just wanted to share with you all a funny story from my son's cricket game last week. We were playing Como and I had met their coach a couple of times before. When we met up for the toss, he told me he wouldn't be umpiring, another parent was doing it. I was fine with that, I'd done it myself before.

But at the end of the game, I found out the reason why. The team they had played the previous week has two "chuckers" and they aren't subtle about it, they run up to the crease, stop and then chuck the ball quite fast. I know because we played them back in Round 5. We weren't playing for sheep stations so I didn't call any no balls or anything. But this other coach did. Well the uproar from the parents was loud and they threatened to not continue with the match. The Como coach was reported to the Association and he was asked not to umpire for a couple of weeks.

Now the irony here is that we found out during our game that the Como coach's son also chucks! True story! How could he be so hypocritical to call no balls for the other team when his son does the exact same thing. Ridiculous!

I assume this isn't the kids trying to cheat it's just they don't know how to bowl properly with proper technique but it needs to be corrected now before it becomes too ingrained and gets harder to fix. If they can't then bowling/cricket might not be for them.

Don't your fees pay for umpires or there isn't enough to go around all the games? I forgot what age group your son plays in, I get it's more prevalient in younger grades but it's never ideal to have parents do it, not just for bias but because in my experience many of those parents don't now the rules properly

Yeah I don't think they are trying to cheat intentionally mate, but it is an unfair advantage nonetheless. This is Under 14s so I really think it should have been fixed by this stage. No fees for umpires unfortunately, only some rare A grade games get them. Normally the coaches are the umpires, unless they know a parent who is good at doing it too. I've got a parent in my team that is pretty good on the rules and if I feel like coaching from the sideline for a game then he is happy to take over.

I've brought it up with our Club President and he's going to talk to the Association secretary to see what they are aware of at this stage.

Lack of people there in a proper officiating capacity no doubt contributing to kids not having proper techniques for far too long.
I can see how it'd be hard for an opposition coach to just starting pulling some kid up for chucking midway through an u14s season.

And why the **** is roston chase bowling. Surely they have a better spinner than this bloke. He wouldn’t even make 1st grade for the team I play for in Melbourne grade cricket.

Warner is past it, needs to go.

How about this for a stat....Test average at home is 59, away it is 32.

Fraud. Flat track bully.

Honestly there’s nobody banging down the door to take his place but.

I was talking to a mate and we both think maybe Head could transition into a test opener. Worth trying I think.

Marcus Harris is absolute ****. Renshaw maybe could be given another shot, has made some runs in shield cricket this year. There’s not much out there but.

We’re gonna lose probably 5 of our 11 within the next 2-3 years. We’re in big trouble imo.

We banked a lot on Pukovski but I highly doubt he’ll ever come good unfortunately. He was our next Michael Clarke but he’s out.
