I second this notion.

Really fits the shire stereotype nicely. (No offense to shire people.)

don't get me wrong, there are alot of Shire bogans and idiots around. I mean every area has their dicks, like the Fully Sick Bankstowners as well etc etc.

Having said that tho, isn't Birdy from Newcastle?

Yeah he is, born in Newcastle and raised in Lochinvar in the Hunter Valley.

He also played junior football for West Maitland and Maitland Pumpkin Pickers.

I started supporting the sharks before I knew of the shire stereotype...

But most people I have met from the shire have been awesome. My best mate lives behind Northies, and my great mate used to work at Northies before he was hospitalised with cancer... You shire folk may know him, his name around those parts is "Flash"... Worked there for years...

I am sure there is a stereotype from where I am from :lmao

Ah ok fair enough.

Never heard of him, mate.

Not that I go to Northies anyway.

I may live in the Shire but I haven't been down to Cronulla in years.

The closest I go is Shark Park :D

I have met Flash a couple of times. One of my best mates is a friend of his. I was really sad to hear about his cancer.

Wade Graham recalled to Panthers line-up for clash against Raiders

PENRITH fullback Lachlan Coote has thrown his support behind close mate Wade Graham to step up against Canberra tonight after the dumped youngster was recalled from Toyota Cup to replace injured halfback Lachlan Walsh yesterday.

Just a week after seemingly paying the price for signing with Cronulla, Graham was yesterday called back into the NRL as the Panthers were forced into a major reshuffle with the loss of Walsh and, possibly Coote for the Raiders clash.

Coote has been battling a groin strain for five weeks and will be given until late today to prove his fitness, with point-scoring winger Michael Gordon to shift to the No. 1 spot should he pull out.

Walsh was ruled out after failing to shake a quad strain that forced him to miss the defeat to Melbourne a fortnight ago, potentially leaving the mountain men without the linchpins behind their surge up the ladder.

Walsh's kicking game and Coote's leaping regathers have been a feature of the Panthers' attack.

But Coote was adamant Graham and Gordon are ready to fill the void against the Green Machine. Graham was axed from an extended bench for the Cowboys clash, just days after the club was left fuming by a report claiming the teenager was only offered $200,000 to stay at Penrith.

And Coote admits he is delighted to see his mate back, adamant the 19-year-old can deliver at Canberra Stadium.

"I'm just happy to have him back in the side - hopefully he stays up here," Coote said.

"Hopefully Wado and Burnsy [Travis Burns] can run the side. It worked last time they were in so I think they can do the same job."

Coote travelled with the Panthers to Canberra yesterday, with coach Matt Elliott prepared to give the star until late in the day to take his place.

However, the City Origin fullback admits he is in need of a rest.

Roosters winger Sandor Earl will join the side on the flank, with Gordon to play fullback.

"If I don't play. I'll be back next week," he said.

The Panthers travel to Canberra four points adrift of St George Illawarra and have the chance to grab outright second with a win. But coach Matt Elliott is refusing to look beyond the clash with his former club.

He was also quick to downplay any fall-out with Graham.

"I pick the team and I'm very comfortable with the role the bloke's going to play for us," he said. "He's a committed kid and a kid I've got a great deal of time for."

Elliott said the Panthers were expecting a finals approach from the Raiders, who are trying to keep their slim finals hopes alive.

No one is more familiar than playing in the nation's capital after four years in charge of the Raiders than the Panthers mentor and he admits the challenge is only made tougher with the men in green fielding their strongest side. After snapping a three-match losing streak last week, Elliott said the side was focused on trying to play the football that delivered wins over competition heavyweights St George Illawarra and Manly.

"We went a couple of weeks there where we were getting further away from that than closer to it so we need to work really hard and reserve some confidence," he said.

"Our focus is not the competition ladder. Our focus is playing our best footy because if we can get back close to that we're a handful."

Elliott concedes the Panthers have been working on their attack, but remains perplexed by the criticism the team is too reliant on kicks for points.

"I scratch my head because the Titans score and people rave about their tries off kicks but I don't know why it applies differently about us," he said. "I acknowledge there's other parts of our game that we can unlock, but if we have to keep on scoring tries off kicks I'm happy with that. You get the same amount of points."

Drag Queen territory.
I'm jumping on the Panthers bandwagon for the rest of the season just cause of Graham.

And on the Shire bogans topic...I used to go surfing round Cronulla all the time before the riots. First time I went back there after that I got on the wrong side of some bogans who didn't appreciate a brown kid hanging on their beach. Happened a few times before I stopped going.

These days, I'd rather take on the Bra Boys. Although I figure I might start coming back this year, purely because Cronulla still has the best surf in the city.
