Anything more then 250k would be silly
Just do what every other club does. Pay him minimum now and top him up when he joins the coaching ranks.

Actually scrap that. We will have a leaked Email / self report or something stupid like that.

If our back 5 are collaborating pay cuts (these guys haven't even hit big deals yet apart from Jesse) then that's really gotta push Wade down.
Other than Wade, who else is eligible for the long-serving player allowance?

Isn’t it $250k (or still $200)?

If Wade takes the $250 for 1 year, then we basically get him for free.

Not a bad point. I can't think of anyone else that would be eligible. Next closest could even be Blayke or something.

$0.188m – Veteran and Developed Player Allowance for eligible players who were either developed by the Club prior to becoming NRL players and / or have been a Top 30 player for at least 8 years at the Club or have been a Top 30 player for at least 10 years across the game

Might need Gus and Gal to explain the 'developed player' definition again...

I didn't realise the last one was a factor. Always thought they had to be through the 20s or with one club.

In that case Dale qualifies and Cam would next year.

Yeh me neither. Tolman would come close too. You could pretty much get Tolman and Graham for about 50k each

It’s one total of 188 for whole squad it’s not per player. You get them for whatever wage you pay them because if it’s a part of their salary it’s just not a part of Dale or someone else’s.

Club can assign it against anyone eligible (or multiple people). They still get the same wage as their contract says, just by having at least one person eligible (and on a contract of 188k+ if just one person) your total spend allowed is 188k higher.

Ok Ta. In that context it's not really worth keeping a developing player just for the bonus. It should be for maybe 2 or 3 developed players each. Forget the second part

It potentially is worth keeping someone ‘just for the bonus’.
If you have no other eligible players you can retain/sign someone who is eligible and the first 188k of their salary is ‘free’ (because you don’t have access to it otherwise).
So if its a 200k player it just costing you 12k vs the min wage (or more) you’d have to spend to fill that slot with someone else.

If you had no eligible players even signing any random past it dude that qualifies for 188k costs you nothing but a roster spot but frees up the min wage you would have used on that roster spot to spend more elsewhere.
