I don't think he will be emotional but it would take alot of ballz from any coach even experienced ones to drop their club captain even if it's disguised under the message of 'resting a niggle'

Wade will be afforded more patience than the regular player rightly or wrongly
Fitz has balls

I am amazed at the number of people in here writing off our Club Captain. Some saying he is done, some saying he has to earn his spot back, some even have said have him come back through the Jets.

When he returns he'll be part of the 17. 269 NRL games and 24 rep games of experience tells you that.

Have you guys noticed where Wade spends his time during games? Not up in the comfort of the coaches box but down on the ground with his teammates. I bet the players love the fact that he chooses to spend his time down there among his troops.

And when he does come back, there is no need for any extra pressure to be put on him. He doesn't need to carry the team, or put no the big play or take on an extra kicking role. We have others now who have stepped up to take that pressure off him.

I can't say if he has got his technique right or if any more head knocks will come his way.

But he does not deserve to be discarded or put on the scrapheap at this stage.

When he is fit he will come back into this side and be welcomed back by his team and the fans.
Why does he not have to earn the spot back?

That’s not discarding him.

if he comes back in and stinks it up who is going to take responsibility ? you watch the coach down play it and blame the team as a whole

I wouldn't have cared in 2021 when we were mediocre and needed all the experience and help we could get but right now in this season we are humming along nicely. I am concerned of upsetting the balance

is it so bad if he has a couple games in reggies to show his body and form are up to it? Fifita had to go down there last year and he's also a club legend

If it's about being captain than coach stubbornness Ricky Stuart dropped Jarrod Croker so it can be done

Yes ideally a player of Wade's caliber and experience could just slot in seamlessly after a big pre-season training with the boys but when was his last good game? can anyone honestly remember? I can't even remember the last game he played. he started going down hill after some bad origin performances and that was years ago.

not much time in the trial before injured but didn't impress

The last time the bloke was regularly on the field for us was 3 coaches ago ffs - this ain't Flanno ball no more

I'm not saying Wade doesn't deserve a spot or that he shouldn't get a chance to prove himself again but by that same token he shouldn't be gifted one either

I honestly agree with a number of points you have highlighted Gards.

In particular in relation to Wades poor form over a number of years. At least for the last 2 years and more then likely 3 years.

So when people indicate he should just get his position straight back, it makes me wonder at what point does this end ? Over the last few years it has been a bit borderline as to whether his form places him in the team. But I do feel given the current form of the forward pack he doesn’t make the team based on form.

So I wonder after how many years does he need to actually play well not be an automatic “lock” for that position?

For mine I would at the very minimum want to see him start from the bench.

Absolutely nothing I've heard or seen to suggest Fitz operates like that.

Wade isn't gonna chuck a wobbly & demand his 80mins on the edge, especially if he's not ready. Don't think it'll be an issue.

Even if his form isn’t quite there he will still make everyone else around a better player just by being there.

He’s a sharks legend and deserves to go out how he chooses.

Perfect solution.. bench until he gets his fitness and form if no form then no starting spot.

No harm in coming back on the bench, wouldn’t be right if he comes back into the starting team.. it would unsettle whoever’s spot he replaces whilst he could have the same impact/role off the bench and not rushing him as he won’t even be match fit

I agree with this sentiment.

IMO he wouldn’t deliberately derail the team dynamic.
Can’t say the same for past senior players whom have had a different attitude.

I feel like (from what I’ve observed over the years) Wade is a team first kind of guy.

Unfortunately, I don’t see where he fits in this Sharks team…

Not as upset as you are with how good moylan is going, but at least it provides the forum with plenty of laughs due to your complete and utter lack of knowledge

Looking forward to Wado returning in some capacity next week against Melbourne and providing some additional spark to our team.

Hope he smashes Cooper Cronk in the pre-game interview for Old Times Sake.
