Another less than stellar performance imo.
Offers nothing off the bench.
Shouldnt be there once Finucane returns

What did he do wrong? I remember feeling glad when he came on fresh and we were defending our line.

Think I'll have to watch the game again.

He didnt 'do' anything wrong, but he also didnt do anything at all
30min spell made 3 runs for 25m

Conpare that to Hazelton who in 17 mins made 7 runs for 57m

I know youll say different position, back row vs front row but thats still not enough output for my liking.

You can say he brings leadership, but Finucane/ McInnes bring that too.

Wade is stealing a living off past reputation and unfortunately we havent seen much from him since 2017

I remember thinking that we looked a better team with him on the field and that he still belongs.

Will watch again.

Yeah can't fault him in defence, but I thought he looked clunky when involved in shape. That ball to moylan was a stinker.

Wade does a fair bit of commentary on the radio these days on Triple M during game or as part of a segment

He was talking about Radley, Hess, hip drops ect. and tackling technique came up in relation to his concussions

Said that it's a problem for him when he tackles low because that's when he cops a knee or hip to the head. He wants to tackle a ball carrier high to wrap up the ball and avoid putting his head in a bad spot but said under fatigue he reverts to what feels more natural or is muscle memory and that is to tackle the ball carrier low around the legs to stop their progress

He said its a big challenge for him when under fatigue to force himself to tackle above the waist not below it

Thought it was kinda interesting, especially with him playing less minutes than he used to now so in theory is less fatigued and he hasn't knocked himself out yet (which is a good thing)

Also said he wants to be that hitman, that aggressive player rushing out of the line but has had to dial it back due to his concussions, new rules on high contact ect as well

While tackling the ball carrier higher up on the body presents other potential concussion impact points like head clashes and elbows/shoulders now that I think back alot of Wades concussions have come when he was making a tackle lower on the ball carriers body

I think he was also alluring to hip drops becoming more prevalent or at risk of occurring when the defenders are under fatigue as they are grabbing ball carriers lower on the body and kinda get dragged along or a bit lazy

I'm glad Wade has some media gigs hooked up, if this ends up being his last season of NRL I hope he can make it a good one.

He might not be doing much flash on the field these days but I do think he brings a positive influence and some accountability / leadership to the team. Don't think we have lost a game since he returned.

And pretty much anyone that's been involved with him rave about his footy brain.

His job in that game was to go out and tackle his ass off, which he did.

Made more tackles than every other middle except McInnes, despite playing the third lowest minutes.

There were also four tries scored while he was on the field, so his 33 minute stint only had about 27 minutes of action.

19 tackles and 56 metres in 27 minutes of action is pretty bloody good for a smaller bench middle.

I reckon less mate. A try plus conversion would suck at least 2-3 minutes off the clock.
I measured it in the trial and it was about 90 seconds.

That could be a result of bunker intervention though. Less time off the clock when they stop it during the time the kicking tee gets run out etc.

2 mins is probably a fair guess for a try with no bunker involvement.

Pretty sure Wade was also doing some in studio stuff for Fox during his suspension.

I think fans put way to much emphasis on meters gained to judge an individuals performance. Not every player needs to have 150+ meters to have a 'good game'

Reducing tackle efficiency is the way to go, less effort in defence should be worried about making meters I say
Reducing efficiency wouldn't work. Missing tackles means you still get tired from having to move up in a line, wrestle a guy, fall off, and then get up of the ground. Reducing the amount of tackle attempts would be a much better way to go... or even better... stop moving up and stop chasing kicks.
