If we are serious about winning another premiership he needs to move on , i appreciate what he has achieved here but can't keep his position based on history . He has had his day and brings nothing to the team on the park , even his captaincy is shaky , does nothing to inspire his younger teammates .
Sometimes you just have to accept that age has caught up with you , that time has come for Wade , show some class .

Stay loyal to him for sure!!!

That way he can be rolling out as a pensioner with his starting jersey!!!!

Shouldn’t have got a start this year.

Staying loyal to Wade had come at the price of not being loyal to up and coming and deserved players who have performed and on form should be there.

I felt that Fitz handed the captaincy back to him begrudgingly.

From memory, Wadeo was coming back from injury and playing from the bench. Finucane was captain. And then Finucane was either suspended or injured and never got the captaincy back.

I got the vibe that Fitz would rather Finucane as captain but didn't want to get everyone off side at a new club.

I also get the feeling that in his 2nd year at the club, Fitz will be more comfortable with making uncomfortable decisions.

Pretty baseless feeling though isn’t it?

Easily could have named them co captains if he wanted Finucane but felt he couldn’t strip Wade

Maybe didn’t want to stir the pot to much after taking his first head coaches gig.

Yes he released “high profile” players last season, but think of who they are in regards to Sharks DNA.

1. Dugan basically did it to himself
2. SJ doesn’t have Sharks DNA so no great loss. Replaced him with Nico who produced 10000 x more than SJ this season
3. Woods. Well, need I say anymore. Great bloke, salt of the earth but well and truely past his mediocre best as a footballer. How he even played origin was beyond my comprehension.

Wade on the other hand (and Fifita) has Sharks DNA through and through and is the incumbent Club Captain so Fitz probably felt obligated to leave him as Captain.

Hopefully Fitz makes a hard call on Wade and if he sticks around, it’s as a roster filler only and used as depth.

Will be the biggest and most important decision of Fitz’s young head coaching career.

How you treat the captain sends a pretty loud message to the rest of the club.

I'm generally not too bad at reading stuff like that. But yeah it's just a hunch.

I’d release him, but at the absolute bare minimum, he should have the captaincy taken off him and start next season on bench.

Yeah exactly. Best option would be another club offer more than we can afford and he goes quietly. I think it is either this or we agree to a plan with him that is essentially a changing of the guard

Would make a huge statement one way or another depending on what he does.

As I noted, Will be the biggest and most important decision of Fitz’s young head coaching career.

Starting him over a younger, fitter player who's earnt his spot and fits the team better also sends a message.

Ricketson was captain when the Roosters decided not to re-sign him despite him wanting to play on.

The good clubs make the hard calls.
