Taking the emotive element out of the equation Wade wouldn’t be re signed nor would he generate much interest from any of the other NRL sides unless it was a bargain price contract, he is a ‘name’ & for that reason he’ll be paid & paid more than what he’s worth.

That said, I have no doubt Fitz will re sign him, let’s hope he does it on a season by season basis & let’s hope it’s not for anything more than befitting of a pay rate for a back row pecking order of where Wade literally is for us now.

I would have thought he would take a 1 year extension and then head off to France.

He has made no secret that he would like to play (and live) in France, so it’s curious that you say Wade is chasing a 2-3 year extension.
Is that well known, a rumour doing the rounds or an educated guess?

Is he in that much of rush to get to France? He could head over there and play in his mid 30's if his body is still right, would think it's a weaker comp than ESL and he would be a handy experienced and credentialed import for a team. Why stop playing NRL and for his club the Sharks early if he doesn't have to?

The 2-3 years thing is speculation on my part nothing more - it's been reported the club is battling with Wade to come to terms on the next contract. Would that really be over the sake of a 1 year extension? If so it must be serious overs money Wade is asking for if the club doesn't like it otherwise you would think they would just give it to him considering his standing in the club.

If its about 2 years+ then yea I can see the club getting their knickers in a knot over that

Wade cramps that side in attack that’s the last thing Talakai needs and when he’s off the trend is we usually score points - I notice Wilton but maybe some don’t anymore because Wade is taking up so much of his game time. Wilton runs harder and is a lot harder to handle, you could find a spot on the bench for Wade but as a full time 12 playing 80 mins in his body nowadays I doubt it

On the woodsy thing - we were ass last year and missed the finals for the first time in a long time so I wouldn’t be too concerned about missing out on wades structural/game plans

Good thing he isn't playing 80 mins at the moment then and no one is suggesting he should be

I'm happy for Wade to play in the middle and Wilton get back is 80 mins on the edge. Just judging on what we have seen lately where Fitz has selected Wade as a starter in the second row

As for post suggesting he is holding back younger players well yes but could we not say the same about a few of our older players? Fifita, Tolman ect? Fitz obviously still sees value in their ability and experience over a young up and comer

I would imagine it’s exactly the same quality, it’s the same comp

I don’t know who Fifita or Tolman are holding back or who’s spot they are taking ?

At this very early stage of their careers they should be learning a heap off Fif's and Tolman. Lucky to have mentors of their caliber imho
Agreed and both Tolman and Fifita still doing a very good job for us

Yep. The big dog has surprised me I must say, very bloody good in short bursts.

He almost scored a try on the weekend that would have been very much like his GF try, he got very close.

I can see what Fifita is bringing, but with Finucane + McInnes shoring up the ruck cant see the benefit of Tolman over Hazelton or Jesse.
Sure when Finucane was injured he broufht experience etc but now hes surpluss

You've literally never seen Jesse play NRL that's why you can't see the benefit of Tolman over Jesse.
If Tolman is 1% better than either he should be playing ahead of them at this stage of the season IMO.
Fitz sees them 5+ days a week in training, games and video.

I'd rather watch Colquhoun or Hazelton over Tolman.
I'd rather watch us win than watch Colquhoun or Hazelton.

The benefit of Tolman is we stop losing the ruck the moment he comes onto the field...

That and the fact he follows the ball no matter where it goes, Averillo scores for sure off that Ronnie drop ball in goal if not for Tolz.

I remember reading that our training staff were telling him not to do weights at the gym because they were worried he'd put on too much muscle.
He hasn't been jumped in our pecking order by two guys in NSW Cup because he's too big or too small though, or not strong enough.

I would think it is because he hasn't been able to convert dominance against other kids his age into noteworthy impact at Cup level.
