I think they consciously chose not to give it to Fifita.
But Lewis was a great second choice and the only option where you kind of can't really argue it too much because he also had a fantastic game and is loved by all. Nobody would really kick off much suggestion Lewis was an unworthy winner.

No and I do agree. I’m not either.

I was thinking this but figured it would get shouted down so softened it by using “an unconscious bias”.

It is, i agree, and very controversial. But injury is the only thing which i can see stopping him from getting an undeserved 1 yr extension.
His form is down and has been since his last extension.
He openly admits hes gonna go to SL in 2024 to Catalan for that final payday, so would simply be using the Sharks as a stopgap till then because his misso doesnt have her citizenship.
If she were a citizen now he'd be off lile a shot, so i dont want us being stuck with him for 1 more year.
I agree - lot of money that is freed up with Graham and Fifita gone, money that can change the clubs future for years to come.. no serious club turns itself into a retirement home - we owe Wade nothing, he should have to earn it but speaks as if he’s going to get it anyway

We cant hold Tieg back in his development to accommodate Wade. Tieg has to start on the left edge.
If the rumours about Nikora re-signing are true then he plays on the right.
It was also rumoured we'd approached Matto - who has been ripping it up form the bench for Eels.
I dont see where Wade fits in and dont see him accepting a basement contract and playing for Jets .
I hate that Teig got dropped for Wade .. silly

When has Wade ever ever spoken that he's going to get it anyway?

All the interviews I have seen he had shrugged off the media with contract questions saying he needs to get back playing footy before even thinking of co tract talks.

Ok. I assume you have inside Intel - not simply having a go at him for something he might say in the future

If Matto is only being offered 500k, it really limits what we should be offering Wade.

Fifita was in the poo with the NRL, it was likely a political decision not to award him the MOM in GF. I thought this was the general consensuses in 2016.

Having recently watched the reply of the GF though I feel alot better about Lewis getting it. Even if Lewis himself seemed surprised and felt someone else was more deserving he had an outstanding game and was really humble about it all.

Something alot of fans probably forget though is that Lewis had kinda of a mixed bag season 2015, at least in the first half of it. Many fans wern't that happy or impressed with his performances. I wasn't one of them, although he had some errors and penalties in him you could see him trying to inspire and fire up his team.

It all came together in 2016 and there was less pressure on Lewy to be the point of difference. Class player, we should grateful if we ever have a player of his standard again. As much as we have some professionals in our team they aren't Luke Lewis. His ability was so huge and he could have such an influence on a game and his squad.

All good - I don’t have inside intel on this situation but the fact that he’s coming out saying he wants one more year then will go overseas sounds like to me that this is something he and the club have already gone through.

I don’t agree to it but it seems like that’s how it’s going to play out, I’m yet to see that ruthlessness from Fitz more or less we’ve seen the opposite so would be surprised if this situation is any different

Yeah i want the Fitz that tapped SJ, Woods and Dugan on the shoulder to do same with Wade & Fifita.
But the way Wade waltzed back in to the team and undeservingly displaced Wilton suggests otherwise

Fitz wasn't even at the club.
Easier to let contracts expire (especially one the board apparently didn't really want very much and went to his preferred club, and one whose life collapsed and became unkeepable) than to not make a spot for a grand final, SOO and Australian player.

No room for sentiment in sport
Wade isn't the player he was - sad but true. Shouldn't get a contract based on past achievements.
May as well get Leutele, Feki, Bird and Chad back as well if thats the case, and try convince Maloney, Lewis and Heino out of retirement at same time
