It's a bit of a concern. You would think an injury like this would be fairly straight forward in terms of recovery timeframes - give or take a week or two.

The fact that the club can't/won't give any definitive updates is also a bit strange. Whenever a reporter has asked about Wade Fitz has just shrugged off in a very non-committal way

It would be good if they could provide a bit more details ie complication to recovery, it's flared up at training etc. Give us something!

They really don’t have to do anything but my point was that intentionally or not, the past few years they are not accurate at all when diagnosing injuries or how long player x will be out for

Of course, it’s be silly not to considering it was thought he be 4 weeks & it’s now hedging towards 7 weeks we should ride it out.

Don't think anyone is saying play him even if not 100%
Just wishing we had more up to date information as the info we have suggested he'd be close and yet not even in the 24.

Definitely no need to rush him, especially with Nikora back on board.

I find that this is not just limited to us. I see a lot of complaints from supporters of other teams that their injury info is so vague and incorrect. I don't think it is something the NRL considers important, they have too many other things to think about at the moment! But it is definitely a source of frustration for us fans. Not sure how it is going to get any better though, the return dates are only estimates after all. Different people heal better or worse than others, so it is hard to tell.

Also injuries not always simple.
Could the team doctors/physio give a weekly update? for sure
Do they really care to or want to? no

Maybe the answer for Wade the last two weeks for 'he's almost there just not quite fully comfortable with it yet' - perfectly reasonable that that could be the situation but doesn't make for a great 'club statement' especially two weeks running. Can understand why they'd just say nothing.

did he have surgery? if not high ankle sprains can take 10 weeks to get mobility back

we havent missed him so far, teig has been unbelievable so why not let him get to 100%?
Yeah looks like he did... NRL Physio (on Twitter) originally said normal return to play is 6 - 8 weeks for a syndesmosis injury that requires surgery.

Still within that time frame.

We're def getting less info than normal. Where is Tracey? NRL reported him as headknock but he went off with groin injury. Did Ikuvalu have syndesmosis surgery? I thought I saw suggestion he was going to but then he's popped back up quite quickly... back in 24 before Graham even.

Berrell disappeared for like a month or more and no report.

Wade def still within reasonable timeframe just confusing he's been reported as due back the next week a couple times but Fitz doesn't want to talk about him.

See I really don't care, they'll be back when they're back.

Fitz mentioned him in the press conference today. Said he is training with the team but, due to it being early rounds he is not rushing him back. Wants to really make sure he is 100%.

Also said Wade is keen to get back on the field.

I can only imagine that because Teig is playing well no need to rush. Happy to wait as long as possible.

Can't we get the bloke who ruled out Dale to tell us? That guy could diagnose erectile disfunction by looking at the way a guy was sitting over Zoom.

I don't want to Zoom in on that

It's sports science not a crystal ball but if your issue is more on the communication side I think it's fair that that it is completly up to the club and players discretion , especially the way media latch onto things like vultures and turn something into a bigger story than it should be. Club in crisis, Wade will have to retire, Fitz lied about Tracey ect ect use your imagination .....

I'm not as worried about when Wade will return but more so how long will he be on the field before he cops another injury. Outside of lower leg injuries, shoulders, ribs ect he is a HIA magnet :(

Don't think anyone is saying play him even if not 100%

get Wade's address from Habib and go demand answers! If Wade is fit enough to answer the door we know we are being played

I don’t disagree Gards, but on the flip side, if they are a bit more transparent then the media types can’t make **** up and write speculative pieces for others to froth all over.

As so often happens from some certain Jurno’s
Looking at you Buzz, Hooper and gang!

Fair point WS but they are gunna always speculate on something, we can't control that

I think if they gave us constant updates though some fans would then complain why the estimated timelines are always shifting.

Sometimes there is no update, they are still waiting on results of scans ect to determine next steps

I would like to be in the loop about our players too but I am happy for the club to manage it how they feel is best. I would have my concerns if it were the bad old days where we had a new scandal every few months pop up, then my trust would be alot lower that something bodgy is being hidden or covered up.

It looks and feels like the club is in a good place now across the board and I think they have gotten better and more confident at communicating things when they are ready to and feel the time is right (just in general I mean). I'm sure our physio and medical staff are all over it doing their best and doing it correctly.

Far cry from somewhere like the NFL... where everyone knows everything.
