So what kind of side do you think we’ll see named here. Usually the second trial is when we start seeing full strength lineups. I’d say we’ll go down that route. In saying that I wouldn’t risk Wade or Ronnie as both picked up knocks on the weekend. I’m assuming Moylan, Duges and Xerri are still unavailable too, so maybe something like this:

1. Kennedy (Morris gets time there as well obviously)
2. Katoa
3. Morris/Ferris
4. Ramien
5. Ferris/Morris
6. Johnson
7. Townsend
8. Fifita (c) (is he fit yet?)
9. Brailey
10. Woods
11. Nikora
12. Bukuya/Wilton/Rudolph
13. Williams

Usual suspects on the bench with some youngsters.

Yeah definitely no need to risk those two.

We'll see most of the fit NRL guys but will probably be for a half.

My starting 13 would be:

1. Tedesco
2. Addo-Carr
3. Mitchell
4. Xerri
5. Sivo
6. Munster
7. Cleary
8. Haas
9. Smith
10. Tomo
11. D Fifita
12. Cordner
13. Arrow

We just publish that and they have to come and play for us, right?

I think you're probably pretty close Matt.

Backline is hard to guess as not sure of extent of Ronnie's injury. Probably expect him not to play the trial as you have.

Personally I'd be tempted to start Morris at FB and bring Kennedy on to sub for him, but that does leave us needing a winger and there isn't an obvious player for that.

We actually don't have any other top 30/development backs (not including Dugan and Moylan). One of the young guys got quite a bit of game time in PNG, think it was Vito Tevaga.
Other option would be if Mawene Hiroti was healthy, or if we once again started Wilton @ centre with maybe Sorensen starting 2nd row. Don't think I'd start Boogs.

Will also be very interesting how Tracey & Trindall get used.

Yeah pretty sure it's 6pm, though that or 7pm they're both ridiculous times for a fricken trial

Couldn't they have made it another time?

Either way, I'll still go, just whinging

I went with Kennedy because as far as I’m concerned if either Xerri or Ramien aren’t playing centre, then Morris is, and Kennedy goes to fullback. We don’t really have any first grade experience in the centres behind Xerri, Ramien and Morris so I went with the safer option.

Yeah but Bomber has implied he expects Morris will play round 1 at fullback. So if that still looks likely then I'd rather see him start there and let Ferris or Wilton start at centre.
But it does create a more complicated wing situation (unless Kennedy starts there)

Maybe Bomber implied that with the assumption that Xerri and Ramien would be fit to start in the centres. I think it makes more sense for him to move Morris to his more natural and preferred position if one of the regulars are unavailable and bring in Kennedy, who is a natural fullback and has a little bit of NRL experience. That’s the logic in my head anyway.

Do we know if Xerri will be right for R1?

I’d like to see Trindal and Tracey given more game time.

1st QTR SJ and Trindal
2nd QTR Chad and Tracey
3rd QTR Tracey and Trindal
4th QTR SJ and Townsend

Give Tracey some hooker time in the first qtr, Trindal 2nd, then let Brailey finish the second half

I don’t know. At this stage I’m only assuming he doesn’t play in the trial. Anything beyond that, no idea.

Also is there a restricted bench for this game? Like a 7 man bench? Or is it as many as you want?

Dunno but if I remember correctly we basically played two different teams against Manly last year each half, so guessing as many as you want.

Yeah it's sound logic for sure. I'd rather start Morris at FB if he is odds on to start Round 1 there but from a man management perspective could make a lot of sense to start him at centre.
My only issue with that is that is if Morris does get a run at FB later in the game we will have started to swap other starters off. Oh well, Bomber can figure it out.

Our backline is super thin until Dugan and/or Moylan can get on the field. Got Ronnie and Xerri out leaves us with NRL players Morris, Ramien, Katoa & Kennedy. Any backline injuries could be a big issue.

Roosters 2021 line up

Then swap Mitchell for Falou.
And find a spot for Ardie Savea

Usually in the last trial teams start with their best lineup and then move away from it. I don't think Tindall at 7 and Tracey at 9 starts this game

Crazy how everyone in the media were talking about our backline depth not so long ago, and now we're a player away from looking behind the couch for a suitable starter.

Yeah that happens when you're two highest players aren't available.

I'd save our best for the final trial. Reckon Coach Morris gives a few of the players From the PNG game (particularly in the forwards) another look in. Trial 2 Team will be Predominantly Non 1st graders IMHO.
