The performance in this trial was a credit to the coach. All of the new blokes, or newish, played very well and look ready to go for the season. Good energy, confidence and belief. And some combinations showing already.

Morris has done very well to get them all looking like first graders, to this point anyway.

Bring on round one.

Couldn't agree more. They look fit, fast and reasonably able to play. Just on the eye test, they look fitter than previous years

That was a promising performance for sure. Good line speed, intensity and defense especially just for a trial. ok defense was a bit dodgy on some of our try's but we don't have the same squad/combinations out there for the full 80 and playing in the heat. we scored some nice try's with a mix of power and razzle. The young blokes at our club are unreal. always step up. feel alot better about our forwards and half depth as well as fullback cover with Kennedy getting more and more confident. he was solid as. there is a just a little bit of Holmes about him, I think we may have found our fullback, happy to play him without hesitation over Morris/Moylan/Dugan pending injuries and squad balance ect ofcourse

Nice to see Fifita and Woods have a proper go, Andrew needs to find some more pace in those legs and run straight hard (pending fitness/recovery) cause he back to getting gang tackled and going to ground a bit easy when he crabs but he looks improved over last year and still bumped off some defenders.

Encouraged by this game all the same and feeling far more positive about the season ahead than I was a few weeks ago. you can tell coach got stuck into them on pre season conditioning and fitness and surely that has a flow on when it comes to discipline and attitude.

Katoa - sharp and strong. he is getting better
Brailey- some nice scoots from the ruck and some good quick passes at times. needs to develop a proper kicking game eventually
Sorensen - actually half decent
Ferris- did some good things under pressure, nice plays when required
Ramien - tough defense and carries
Rudolf and Hunt - made some massive runs
Pele- surprised me a bit
Billy M- nothing special this time around but wasn't a liability or anything
BHU - beast
Nikora - played fast and hard
Jack Williams - went ok, needs to demand more ball, he's no Gallen

but just a good all round team performance from everyone

The only bummer was Chad who didn't have a shocker or anything but was bit of a handbreak. he really stands out next to the likes of Tracey & Trindel - in a bad way that is
shocking kicking game (not only from him and wind was crazy), some bad passes and nothing interesting in attack. some good defense though and he wasn't as slow as usual and at least he slotted some easy conversions

Good post. Agree with most.

I think Brailey has a pretty good kicking game already, I'd say when it comes to hookers with kicking games he's Top 5 in the league imo. Known to nail 40/20s and likes those stab kicks Ennis did so well in 2016 for us. Needs to work on them abit as they tend to go dead abit but he's not afraid to kick, which will put the defence on their toes. Jayden was too one dimensional.

Williams needs to stop doing the Prior shuffle before the line every hit up. Just straight and hard.

Agree on the line speed, significantly improved from previous years. Their increased fitness hopefully means they can maintain it for the whole game. They were also more aggressive, alot of lifting and driving back in the tackles.

Kennedy looked good, safe, reliable. Defn deserves a shot.

Rudolf and BHU is going to be the best bench prop duo in the comp. Fifita and Woods to take the initial opening brunt then these do beasts to take over.
