Had Flanno raving positively on commentary on leading the Warriors charge, before he went off injured last week. Just saying,..... where's ya heart Egg?

I really don't hate Chad Townsend .
Decent bloke and no dramas off field .
Grand Final winning halfback.
Just glad he's gone and not being a roadblock to other up and comers .
Tatus , started this Townsend talk here in the Toby thread .
Somehow twisting passion comment into a Chad comparison .

As I said 2 posts later .
Only added passion to original Toby post as I didn't want to trash Toby .
He has a LOT to offer , especially moving forward if his defencive issues get rectified .( passion a bit of a counterbalance. )
I never mentioned Townsend , Tatus did .
Yes Townsend did have passion too .
That part wasn't trashed by me ever .
At the risk of starting a YET another Chad bashing .
It's his abilities that we're ordinary and I already prefer Trindall after only 5 games as Sharks halfback .

I didn't mention the former halfback either. Was just pointing out your flawed reasoning. Rudolf for the most part this year has been poor - even by his own admission. The effort is obviously there though, and if you are going to use effort as a reason to defend a player or to compare players you need to be consistent. Ignoring guys who play for other clubs now, Have you defended Woods, Magoulias, Dugan or Fifita this year for putting in great effort despite getting poor results at times? What about Moylan, or Ramien?

My original post was about Toby's poor defence early in that game
His defence was GREAT the week prior , but slipped again to the ordinary standard you mention most of the year .
BUT , he's one of the few props that run HARD in our team , so didn't want to totally trash him , his effort is good.

As for Woods, Magoulias, Dugan or Fifita , is there any great reason for me to give credit for their efforts ?
The only one I probably trashed would have been Woods amongst that group , for his half hearted jogging the ball up in reverse , in addition to his lazy tackle efforts .
Why would I need to cut him slack ?
At least Toby puts in , what's the problem with that ?

Just that the two players (Woods/Toby) have extremely comparable performances and for one he is HARD and his effort is good and for the other he deserves no credit because you don't like him as much and you perceive him as making less effort.
Woods is on the decline and Toby is (hopefully) on the rise but atm they are not giving us a drastically different output. Maybe Toby wouldn't look like he was making as much effort if he didn't miss so many tackles at high speed and actually just did his job.

Woods is in his last period with us, we won't have to worry about him next season. I hope Toby improves further and cleans up his defence for next season, looking energetic might not be enough to keep everyone wanting him in the side otherwise.

thought he had a good game tonight

hes stepping it up lately after a mediocre middle part of the season

more focus and effort in his carries and tackles. good to see as I was starting to go sour on the bloke after such a promising start to his sharks career and us resigning him

I think the switch to prop has helped him. I know the difference between prop and lock isn’t gigantic these days, but it can’t be a coincidence that he’s played better since simplifying his game a bit when he moved to prop.

The Finucane influence cannot be underestimated either.
