Great White
The Panthers game really showed how much our forwards need the stop start. It was high intensity, high speed, no breaks game.
Interesting take, I’m positive that Fitz wants us ideally to play games where there isn’t stop start moments. The Panthers game really showed how much our forwards need the stop start. It was high intensity, high speed, no breaks game.
I think the pace of the game wasn't the issue:Interesting take, I’m positive that Fitz wants us ideally to play games where there isn’t stop start moments.
He was bemoaning the fact in his presser in the prelim last year v Storm.
Agree although 5 I think was more a circumstance of time and space rather than necessarily a conscious effort.I think the pace of the game wasn't the issue:
1. Too many simple drop balls
2. Too many disruptor penalties (3 from memory).
3. A bad flop causing six again on the last tackle
4. Failure to drop on a loose ball.
I would also add:
5. Halves went back to stock standard plays (ie no combining on same side, no run around etc).
Yeah I added item 5 more from my frustration.Agree although 5 I think was more a circumstance of time and space rather than necessarily a conscious effort.
Errors and penalties killed us for sure
We had 2 more errors, and gave up 2 more penalties and got choked out of rhythm by their 5 extra 6-agains.
And offloads, 10 to 9 but theirs felt clean and effective, ours were much sloppier.
Both Cleary and Yeo said it was a tougher game than scoreboard reflected, and Yeo said intensity was like a finals game. That intensity from us to make them feel that suggests we'd have beat most if not every other team.
I think it was just the angle of the dangle. It may just have been the camera angles but is Carrington Park not as wide as other grounds? Just seemed there was no space out wide to move the ball.
I think we need to go back to kaufusi starting, Toby's energy off the bench reminds me of Fifita's hunger off the bench.Has to start this week. The Raiders have a strong middle rotation and we can't afford to start devoid of energy again.
I think Kaufusi's strong ruck defence complements two more impactful players off the bench. But to be fair Tommy is pretty decent in that area too.I think we need to go back to kaufusi starting, Toby's energy off the bench reminds me of Fifita's hunger off the bench.
It'll come in time. No issue with him plying his trade in cup for this season if required though.I'd love Fits to give Felix his debut, but thats because I'm a sucker for a big boppa forward.
I would start Kaufusi and have Toby, Tom and Sifa come on at the 20 min mark.Toby should start this week.
