Yeah can't disagree with that.

Do you really think Moylan offers that impact at this stage of his career? I think what's keeping him in the side is his contributions to our attacking shape. He's not particulary fast, strong or explosive. I don't see him coming on and turning a game in the 14.

If and when Tricky get's the nod to take over, I think Moylan will be 18th man (or injured). If we were going to run a bench utility in that style, I would lean towards someone like Tracey/Atkinson who would at least come on and back up through the middle constantly with pace.

Regardless though, I think Wade as a middle/utility is the best for us as it allows us to carry 3 extra forwards.
Not to mention he has never been great at pulling teams back when they are behind.

Why does BHU get put on the bench in this scenario? He is easily the best healthy prop in the team.

Also - McInnes is not a ballplayer by any definition. He is good at tip-on plays, but that's it. He might be a good option to be throwing that first pass from 13 if you want the team to play like other teams (i.e. Brisbane), but I want them to play like the Sharks.
I loved McInnes at 13 for us

His role and job last week was exactly what we’ve been missing ; he can’t go back to the bench

Finucane in the props

Do you realise that this is what they are already doing?

If nobody gets injured and there are no "free" HIA interchanges, we get the following in every game.

40 minutes of Finucane + McInnes + 1 prop
20 minutes of McInnes + 1 prop + 1 middle (prop or extra)
20 minutes of Finucane + 2 props

If you want McInnes and Finucane to start, that means either:
- not having McInnes play the final 20, or
- using an extra interchange

I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing.
Finucane wasn't missed.
Team looked GREAT without him

McInnes has that much blood coming out of him, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to Kikau a HIA.

It is a good thing. some other players needed to step up and they did in his absence
Yes , very true.
BUT , team feels better without him there at all.
A light weight Prop ,
Might be a good defender but offering LITTLE in the yardage department ?
Seems Macca a GREAT Lock playing long minutes , with OTHER metre eaters doing their job instead ?
Lots of questions , very happy to be corrected

McInnes actually played less minutes that his average from last year. The difference was that he got a rest. Normally he doesn't.

4-forward bench and nobody getting injured was a bigger factor. All four benchies played minutes well within their range.

Does Finucane offer much in attack
Yeah mate, he does.

If you are talking about metres, statistically Finucane is almost an identical player to Williams, Rudolf and McInnes.

If you are talking about passing at or before the line to create space for other forwards, no regular Sharks forward compares. Colquhoun is the only comparable player in the squad.

You see some of the teams with STRONG BIG packs able to muscle their way up field.
Our pack with Him , Macca Williams etc struggle at times .
Last Friday was AWESOME.
Of course Ramian head explosions don't help any pack we put on the field

I think with only one on, the team plays simpler footy - though not necessarily better footy.

Both are great players. Fitz has worked out a way to use them together.

Minutes or not aside

His 13 role involved much more passing then from what I’ve seen before from him and Dale and it worked well

It is something I hope we stick with moving forward

No. It didn’t.

He threw a similar amount of passes.

Normally McInnes plays 55-60 minutes at lock, and Finucane plays 20-25 at lock and 35-40 at prop.

All that changed in that game is that they gave Finucane’s “lock minutes” to Wade and his “prop minutes” to Jack. If you want to argue that those two did a better job than Dale, have at it. That has nothing to do with McInnes though.
