If we release Tracey then I got a feeling we’re going after someone big. Just have no idea who it could possibly be. Would love it to be AFB. He’s the aggressor we need, would be a ****ing animal for us alongside Mciness, Finucane, Uele and co. Feel he would lift our pack and make them better players due to how good he is. Would be a massive motivator playing alongside him I believe.

Bradman Best set to signed a monster extension with the Knights at 800k a year. Surely knights are going to have to let one of their players to now especially with Ponga being on 1.5 a year.

More info coming out about Michael Jennings - what a piece of ****
What are roosters doing giving him any kind of contract

I know not everyone here is a fan of not signing ********s but he’s exactly the kind of ******** not needed in the NRL

I'm one not averse to signing ********s. We've had hundreds of them at Woolooware and I'd resign past ********s and sign more of them if they were available,

However, I see Jennings as surplus to NRL requirements as well.

Speaking of ********s, the Bye Round interview with Toddy C is a must listen.

I think it’s literally just former mates trying to give him a job to help him get back on his feet.

Apparently Robinson speaks to him regularly, Morris is great mates and the NSW cup coach.

Pay him on a train and trial, and then pay him a contract to play NSW cup is the plan I think. Not saying it’s a good thing, but it appears he probably has big debts and no other profession to fall back on just yet.

Like the overwhelming majority, I'd say.

He's been out of the game for 3+ years. Reckon he could have found himself an earner by now.

yeah I don’t know you would of thought he would of. If he hasn’t paid a cent of what he owes his ex wife that tells me he may of been doing nothing and blown his money.

A lot of ex sports stars can struggle with the “normal” day to day life too. Maybe those close to him (Morris, Robinson, etc) think being back in that rugby league camaraderie lifestyle is what he also needs atm why he’s going through his tough patch.

Again I’m not saying it’s right because I definitely wouldn’t want him at Sharks right now even if he was in his prime.

That 1.6m he’s stashed away so he doesn’t have to pay back the woman he physically and sexually assaulted could cover him for quite a few $1200 weeks and learning a trade. Even after paying her.

I've move the Kent stuff to the General 2024 thread guys. It's not player movement related.

Probably should continue the Jennings talk in that one too.

I dunno what it is with the Sharks signing big unit Polynesian forwards that have the aggression of a pussy cat

Sometimes you just need an angry sun burnt Queensland redneck like Chris Beattie that wants to bite your head off and piss down your throat

or at least some bloke down the pub that looks and talks like him

We don't need another Kafusi, Hunt or Tagatesi
Flegler wouldve been great

Flegler would be better than bench / borderline 'not in the 17' props? What an observation.

Why stop there, lets wake up to ourselves, James Fisher-Harris would have been great instead of Tuku Hau Tapuha

The only middle we have on what Flegler is on is Finucane, who was best available at that time.
Dolphins also signed Flegler Feb 2023 so before Aus debut and off the back of Brisbane fade out, was still a good signing then but is an even better one now.
And just as one more thing, he wouldn't have to move to change to their club either, which has value to him, anyone else would have had to pay more.

Yep. Wanted to stay in Brissy. Teams would have been lining up for him with big $$ if he was open to moving away. I think everyone knew how good he was before the Aussie debut and Brisbane GF appearance.

I do too but I still think he could have used those to leverage a little more money if he was negotiating now instead of before them.

He may have bonuses built in. If not for this year then then for 2024.

He may, he may not. We really have no idea how aggressively bonuses are used in NRL contracts. Would the average player on 750-1m have 50% of their wage reliant on bonuses? 25%? 10%? No idea.

I would guess any time media can get there hands on a half reliable number it is probably max payable, not min payable. More chance 750 includes any bonuses than they are on top of it, I would assume.

He wouldve been a great redneck qlder signing 😃 we dont look likely to recruit or have shown interest in anyone good the last two years anyway, so not expecting anything until 2024. Hope theres some recruitment next year though, pack needs improvement, cant keep relying on the same forwards who have been in injury rotation last 2-3 years, let go two forwards next year
