I could see why people see it thy way. He played 16 seasons. He won the comp in season 8 with the Tigers, so I guess you could say that was the “peak”.

He was still winning MoM in SoO games in year 11 though, and imo his first 3 seasons at the Titans he was the most dominant organising 7 in the comp. People forget that up until 2010 the Titans were a very good team. His 13th season.

It was the final 3 years of his career where it went downhill. The GFC completely screwed the Titans over, and Prince had some off field investments come under scrutiny. He lost his mojo, the Titans went to ****, and he ended up as a depth half on minimum wage for Brisbane 18 months later.
Cheers.

Thought you'd have some good insight.

People always give Benji way too much credit for 05. He wasn't even in their top 3 player's that year, possibly not even top 5.

Yep. Agreed.

Benji was a strike player. You need strike players to win in the NRL, but the other three guys in the spine laid the platform for their success.

Saying that Benji won that GF with his flick pass would be similar to giving the CC medal to a guy who had an otherwise ordinary game but then kicked the winning FG in golden point...

Highlights don't tell that story.
Strike player.

Watching a strike player dance around scoring tries is much more entertaining in a highlights package than watching a halfback kick in to corners or a hooker making little plays to establish ruck dominance.

I'm not that confident that Brown can step up to being the regular dominant half.

Others probably remember things differently but I thought that Scott Prince didn't quite live up to the big bucks in the last half of his career.

Burgo and a few others that know Queensland footy better than me might set me straight on that one.
i get SJ vibes from Brown

If he can manage to not float in an out of games and step up consistently he will very elite

I see Brown becoming a very good player but only if he has a dominant 7 playing next to him. He’s not a 1 man band I don’t think. Will struggle if his halves partner and edges are average players.

I'd think the best thing for him long term would be to stay at the Eels and develop in a good side with a strong pack and a system he knows well, next to a guy who compliments him (assuming Moses stays... though he'd have Gutho I guess). A move at this stage of his career for a short term gain would be a pretty risky.

He's 22. It's probably fair to say that up to this point he's needed the support, but he could easily turn into a dominant half later on. At 21 Thurston, Cronk, and Hunt were all bench players and Maloney wasn't in the NRL.

Didn't realise he was that young.

Definintely. I hear Chad Towsend has only just become a passable player and he's 31.

Speaking of.... I was a little bored on my drive in to work, so listened to CT7's latest vlog thingy about the first day back at training. Apparently he set a PB for the 1.2km time trial. Like a fine wine...

Should be coming in to his prime in 7-8 years.

He's developing still (as he should be at his age) but one of his biggest strengths is his own run game. Works a lot better on the front foot thanks to a great pack. Something for him to think about before he takes up any offers. Paulo/RCG/Ipap/Lane/Matterson have been a great platform for him to play off
