Doueihi, pissed at tigers flicking Hasting's off apparently.
Dolphins should try get him. He ain’t worth 900k but, I don’t see any club though actually offering that. I reckon if the dolphins or another club offered 750k on a 4 year deal he’d sign there.

I know the cap is going up but any club paying him that over 4 years has lost the plot.

a sydney club has offered nanai a monster 5 year deal - 3 years at 800k and 2 years at 900k
The 900k years first you'd presume? Or a club back-ending the deal...
Either way it's too much. Money and length.

And it will end in tears. Great talent for sure, but that's paying massive overs on a continuing trajectory of improving potential,. In actuality, less likely to come to fruition.

He's young, the 900k at back end is more a recognition he can get better* than a dodgy back ending.

*combined with a calculated gamble the cap will keep going up and 900k for him in 2027 is a good deal for an international backrower

players offered those sort of contracts around the $Mil mark nearly always disappoint at their new club and struggle to replicate the form or live up to the potential and hype that got them such a big deal in the first place - doesn't help that they usually are going to an inferior club to the one they are currently at and that their ego has probably expanded with their wallet

the size of the contract also puts pressure and expectation on a young player that might not be ready for it

If it's Munster or someone of that level no worries, they have already proven themselves at club and rep level and are the type of players hungry for success every season

but putting that sort of coin into a young edge player just screams early release/payout to me

glad it aint us

And all the connections with teammates are gone, and the gameplay is different, and how they are used likely differs at least a little if not hugely.

Much better I think to talent ID a bunch of young guys* and hope you have a hit or two and spend up on them when you know they fit your system than to bring in a superstar. But sometimes you don't hit on the young guys or someone appears too (potentially) important to miss out on.

*or guys who have shown good signs but may need a change of environment/opportunity

A Sydney club? Or a "Sydney" club?

Call me cynical, but amazing how this offer gets publicised at the end of the World Cup where he can come home and tell to Cowboys to up the ante.

Very convenient isn’t it.
Makes his gamble to just sign a one year deal look worthwhile if he gets anywhere near those number by making World Cup squad
