In case link doesn't work for others:

The Warriors have landed their second prized signing in three days after officially securing Cronulla youngster Luke Metcalf.

The Warriors have been circling Metcalf for the past month having earmarked him as their long-term halves option. A deal has been close for the past week but Metcalf has officially agreed to join the Warriors for 2023 and 2024.

I'm really not that fussed about Metcalf going
  1. He's not better than Kennedy at fullback
  2. He's not going to start over Hynes
  3. He's not currently better than Trindall and I don't think a Hynes/Trindall combo works.
  4. Centre might have been a worthwhile experiment
  5. 14 is an option but probably something he woudn't be after.
Dont get me wrong, would have preferred we keep him but with out current team he's not in the 17 and isn't better than any of our starters. Plus all the positions we play those in front are young and long term options.

Good luck to him. Still think a bad move going to the Warriors for his development.

I place this partly on Manly snaffling him, their evaporated promises, then us retaining Moylan. He prepared to move around for a start, Good luck to him.

Yeah, hard as nails and a real scrapper.
For sure could have got an NRL contract but don’t think there is anywhere that would be a likely start for him. Obviously better money offered to move, maybe better opportunity? Leuluai old AF, not sure how Field and their 9 go

and apparently Manly only let Cust go on condition that they got first option on him when he returns to Australia, so they may not have released him early to another NRL club anyway,

What does that mean? Can he not sign with someone until manly tables him an offer?

It’s an odd one. I guess any contract he intends to agree to gets sent to them and they have option to match it and sign him. If they agree to match it either he then signs with them or perhaps other side can opt to go higher and see if manly will match that
