Why wouldn’t it be
I think generally there is a bit of a handshake agreement in NRL not to do it but him and manager started the **** fight it seems. Transfer fee is more a against them than other clubs (because it blocks him out of options)
And now the Broncos have released him to join the Dogs... I wonder if they coughed up the $500k?

IMHO, if clubs are encouraging players to jump ship mid contract then they should have to cover any costs of attracting that player (including any transfer fee if the NRL is going to allow them to exist).

Otherwise the well backed clubs with deep pockets or access to funds outside of the NRL will just poach players left, right and centre.

So, if the NRL allows transfer fees be placed on a player (under contract), then that should be considered in the cap.

I hear you, but wouldn't it just mean the clubs with deep pockets would be the only ones who even get the chance to sign players with transfer fees?

If that systems were in place 10 years ago we wouldn't have been in a GF

Was it better before when the big clubs could just do it for free?

The player has the same value, you are just buying the right to sign them from the other club.

I don’t love the idea of transfer fees being brought it for players moving between NRL clubs (although there would be times it is suitable) but don’t think it goes under cap.

Don’t think club needs to declare wining and dining player to attract them either.
