Probably about right for Mahoney. He’s good. Eels are nuts for not prioritising him.
A fair offer. 4 years is the big carrot but less of a risk here I think. Suddenly the Dogs are a team you would sign with!

As far as good hookers go, I wouldn't be surprised if he got more. He is worth more than. RCG and didn't he just re-sign for 800k? Agreed, eels are crazy.

Niukore has apparently signed a 2.5 mil deal across 3 years. That is ****ing stupid money for him IMO.

Yeah that’s a crazy amount for him if true
Certainly can’t blame the eels for giving him a ‘good luck with your move’
Dumb offers like that probably why Metcalf would be considering such a weird(ly timed) move

Mahoney at $650k for 4 is good. If Parra only offered $450k that's silly.

Who the ****s throwing that coin at Niukore?

The Warriors do. Going to have a lot of money in their pack with SFA of a spine.

Just like the Titans
Because you take 1 look at the Warriors & just see they're lacking a slightly above average backrower to make them a threat ey 🥴

niukore got finucane money
Finucane reportedly 750k, 750k, 750k, 300k which at season start is he is 30, 31, 32, 33
Niukore on 625 for 4 years where at season start he is 25, 26, 27, 28

I'd still call it a bit of an overspend on where he is at but he could definitely develop into it.
Depending on how you see Dale's contract as 'front loaded' or 'fair that he is on less for the last year' determines on whether they are really on comparable coin or not.

Obviously total very comparable but breakdown looks like they are expecting 4 strong years and we are expecting a very good start then probably a decline (and paying accordingly).
Could be elements of cap juggling also, might be valuing Dale more like 700k each of first three years, then 550k but front loading him a little to give us space to find his replacement while he is still with us rather than be desperate the next year.

I just think the Warriors pay overs for Kiwi players. It's sensible business to grab their best back. It must be a real struggle to get Aussies to relocate for any length of time (or stay settled) and I'm sure they want players the country can really call their own to build support in a union mad climate.

It's worked well so far.

Shouldn't have to pay overs to lure a bloke back home... or at least wouldn't if you were also a more competitive club...
Curran, Harris, E Katoa, Murchie, BMM, Sironen and Jazz is a fairly congested 11, 12, 13 to join though.

You'd think there are other teams (like us) with a much clearer opportunity for him... but 600k+ is probably a lot more than any of those clubs were offering.

I don't think it's unreasonable that the Warriors would have to pay above market for a pretty specific type of player - a kiwi in a position they need at that time. It's in the club's interest too, so there's extra value for them.

Interesting question - would NZ support a team of mostly Aussies (or non-Kiwis anyway) if it brought them success?

That's actually a perfect amount, for a kid who's already hitting his straps - good investment.
