Moylan will probably be injured within the first 5 rounds, out for 5, back for one more then out another 7. **** house re-signing.

I doubt he takes a minor bump and extension through 2023 if he doesn't think he can get past Trindall though, which I feel there is some evidence is the case.

I don't agree with the re-signing of Moylan, I do agree with Fitz if he prefers Moylan to start though over Metcalf. I think starting is likely a battle between Moylan and Trindall. Not sold either Fitz would be looking to start the season with Metcalf as a 14 option whether Moylan was around or not, possible he could force that over preseason, but at point he has signed elsewhere (now) I think it is a fair way off.

Whilst it is easy to say from the outside just upgrade the guy and maybe extend him to make sure we keep him I don't really think one of the first things Fitz does in the job is cave to any demands from a 6 game 22 year old with dodgy knees who hasn't even done a day of preseason with him yet.
If I was Fitz I'd be pushing him to make a case for himself over preseason and start of season before I want to discuss contract extensions/upgrades and if he signs elsewhere this early then so be it.

Moylan or no Moylan I think it is a weird time for Metcalf to make a call on 2023 unless he feels very strongly he isn't going to be in our plans come that year.

True, just like those who think re-signing Moylan did contribute to his leaving also have no idea. You read Wizard declaring 'I blame this on us signing Moylan' and liked his post but when snowman said the opposite you felt the need to specify he doesn't know that. None of us know ****all we are all just guestimating based on different factors and different opinions. I was just wondering why you were declaring one half of the conversation an uneducated guess when the other is based on just as little.
You don't know what Metcalf is thinking neither do I - I just pointed out the facts.

Moylan is someone who is in Metcalfs position and someone who got re-signed with a lot of money, money that could've gone to upgrading Metcalfs contract even more this year with the potential of adding another year to make it more enticing and with Moylan around it's one more person in his path. Also the coach coming out in support of Moylan is another factor.

These are real factors - not him "thinking he can't get past Trindall" or whatever else you were trying to say

Yeah I know, I don't think I need to write that at the start and end of every post though.

Funnily enough just like I don't know and you don't know what Metcalf is thinking your take on what are real factors and what isn't is also just your opinion. The FACTS are pretty much that they are both signed for this coming season and other than that we don't know bugger all about who is thinking what (them, the coach etc), what money is available for what, and pretty much any other factor. Forum is a place for discussion though, maybe stick to Sharks official announcements if you're such a staunch facts man and don't want people offering opinions.

In my opinion pointing out you don't know what someone is thinking and then in the same post declaring what is and is not 'real factors' seems pretty odd.

All good man. I can confirm the club is working hard to keep Metcalf

Final round v Dogs. Played fullback.

Hardly a death nell though. Wasn’t any worse than Ronnie’s debut or some of Kennedy’s earlier games. Ramien also had an early game where they ran 3 tries through him.
Nah not that game, I didn’t see that.

I think it was against the Titans earlier in the year. Was his second game

You gunna quote other posts on here saying it is because of re-signing Moylan and write the same thing?

I agree with Snowy, Metcalf was extremely long odds to be a starter this year but likely gets a few more games this season without Moylan.
Neither is signed for next year though and he could have backed himself to take the opportunity.

While I suspect he'd probably rather Moylan wasn't here another year ahead of him he is signed this coming season regardless so he shouldn't let it dictate his 2023.

He's just as likely looking at SJ being 33 and perhaps on the way out (2023 last year of contract) vs Hynes being here at 27 (and signed in 2024) with a spot locked down.
If anything it says to me he doesn't back himself to beat out Trindall.
NZ also have Kodi next year who wants to stay in Qld (I think?) so unlikely to extend and CHT also not currently signed past this year.
Doubtful SJ played zero part in the signing also.

Metcalf has taken a (presumably) well paying offer that looks like an easy route to first grade and I think probably does that whether we have Moylan this year or not.
So you know if Metcalf received an offer at the same time as the other young guys? Or we don't know if he's even received one yet?

What kind of offer? For 2023 before he even started 2022 pre season doubly he received much as a contracted top 30 player

It might be a brilliant ploy by Metcalf's manager to get him a better deal with the Sharks.
No I think the Warriors deal is pretty set and solid.. we are legit trying to scramble to get him out of it

The offer where we upgrade him this year say 150/200k and 150/250k next year making it a much better total amount to get him to stay rather then just offering him an inflated contract for next year

Did the other young guys receive this offer? Which ones?

On Metclalf to Warriors Backflip - Crazy to think that a player hasn't gone to their current club and exhausted all avenues before entertaining another deal - especially with the warriors considering all of their travel/living complications over the past 18 months.

As for Moylan re-signing - while it may suck, it was done when Johnson was being a pork chop, and Trindall hadn't had a real crack in the seven. I understand this decision at the time... with the benefit of hindsight (Seeing more of Trindall and Metcalf) it may not have been necessary. Then again, a halves group of Trindall, Metcalf, Hynes isn't a lot of experience.
