Just following along the conservation line that he's singing elsewhere. Pretty straight forward, wasn't it?

Who said he was signing elsewhere? Just a rumour.
Tough crowd. Someone has said it if it's a rumour.
I’m sure they’d happily throw us Garner but they don’t need to trade anyone to sign and off-contract player
Wouldn't be the first time a team has looked to get an early release of a player they've signed.

Jeez, I've gotta stop posting when I'm sober.

It is a rumour until its official

There was another article yesterday saying Penrith can't afford him and have zero interest in trying to sign him. Take it however you like, i just posted what i saw because its a good discussion point.

Each to their own - I don't think Panthers have the money for Teig but I don't mind a discussion about any player leaving/being out for long term injury. Think it is interesting to have a chat about how we would adjust for different things, what different depth looks like etc

Moved this from Williams thread because it is more Teig relevant (or, lack thereof)

I’d say Talakai goes to edge and we get a centre would be the better option

Personally feel we upgrade both positions that way provided we get a decent centre

I think he’s adequate cover for edge during a game but not sure about permanently?
Every chance Talakai goes to the edge and we buy a depth/bench back rower. Wade/Williams can also provide cover from bench, which Talakai may need for a bit as it is a much larger defensive workload, he may not be able to be an 80 minute backrower.

Iro or Ronnie (via SS) go to centre.

Although would also explain the rumoured interest in Averillo

Potential centres off
Paul Alamoti, Grant Anderson, Jake Averillo, Waqa Blake, Braidon Burns, Jed Cartwright, Jarrod Croker, Brendan Elliot, Oliver Gildart, Morgan Harper, Patrick Herbert, Peta Hiku, Mawene Hiroti, Matt Ikuvalu, Thomas Jenkins, Brian Kelly, Tautau Moga, Tesi Niu, Brad Parker, Adam Pompey, Ethan Quai-Ward, Gehamat Shibasaki, Billy Smith, Tommy Talau, Jenson Taumoepeau, Enari Tuala, Corey Allan, Albert Hopoate, George Jennings, Dean Ieremia, Hymel Hunt, Tyrone Peachey

Potential second rowers off
Dane Aukafolau, Fletcher Baker, Billy Burns, Bryce Cartwright, Michael Chee-Kam, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Tyson Frizell, Tyrell Fuimaono, Jack Gosiewski, Wade Graham, Jack Johns, Brodie Jones, Sam McIntyre, Taniela Sadrugu, Apisalome Saukuru, Alex Seyfarth, Tariq Sims, Bayley Sironen, Chris Smith, Scott Sorensen, Joseph Vuna, Corey Waddell, Clay Webb, Teig Wilton, Tyrone Peachey

Not a lot of sure things there by any stretch.
You could maybe sign Averillo to compete with Tracey/Iro/SS/Atkinson/Hiroti for left centre and get one of half a dozen bench level second rowers to back up Talakai. Or you leave the options we have for centre as there is enough decent competition there hopefully someone stands out, and get a couple of the bench edges and make them earn the jersey a bit more. Also having a couple of them leaves door open to move Talakai back to centre if they looked okay and he didn't.

If we were after a centre i would like us to have a look at Billy Smith , lots of potential , had a horror run with injuries but i like the way he plays . If the Roosters put Manu back to centre he's back in reserves .

Billy looked pretty underwhelming last year but has looked good this year. Think he sticks with them though - they have stood by him through a lot and have Suaalii leaving and with Walker now out for a few weeks at least Manu won't be moving for a while (you wouldn't think).
Teddy missing games to Origin likely means either Manu goes to FB or Suaalii does.

Every chance Billy holds a jersey for next 6 weeks or so and is content to stay for a contract I'd be wary of paying more than.

I would still have a crack at him , especially if Wilton did end up going , big if , Roosters are sitting watching to see how he goes . Sifa to 2nd row and Smith left centre .
Sifa , Smith and Mulitalo , some left side .

Not sure if you’re serious or not lol

Anyways because he’s our second rower and may be leaving the club. Generally on a clubs fan site forum you talk about the players…

I just think it was obviously never going to be with the Panthers. They can't afford the players they have. Makes no sense they would then target someone like him who would cost a bit.

The club have extended every single mainstay player at our club that they have wanted to over the last 12 months +
But all of a sudden they are going to lose a promosising young top 17 second rower to a rival? Yea nah I don't but it

The club know what they are doing, the discussions didn't just start last week, they will have already planned their cap space ect and have a ballpark figure from Teig's management. Tieg has stated he wants to be a Shark for life. The players love the culture and their fellow players at the Sharks.

All the rumours and interest/non interest from rival clubs is just apart of the process but will likely turn out to be little more than formalities.
The club have done well keeping our signings under wraps and not leaking info since the Fitz era began, it's likely the same case with Teig.

Far out according to rumours Sione Katoa was leaving the club a few months ago, LOL

I'm not saying I know how it's gunna play out but fans are over reacting, on balance he is more likely to remain a Shark than not.

This was same thing with Kennedy, Sifa, Katoa ect. We heard nothing for a while other than talks have been happening and then boom all of a sudden the news drops that they have extended for 2 or 3 years.

Yeah can’t see Tieg leaving. He’s going to get a pretty decent contract and no way Panthers can afford it whilst they’re trying to keep their current players.

Reason it’s taking so long imo because both parties aren’t in a rush and know it will happen imo
