Official Teig Wilton

Edge forward Teig Wilton is in the final stages of his rehab from an off-season shoulder reconstruction and is expected to be ready for Round 1.

Fitzgibbon said in the Round 1 Coach's Mail video that Teig is "week to week", is training full time and could probably have played this week but it's a long season so they are giving him the extra time to get ready.

I really don't see this hype around him, but, he is serviceable and did a good job yesterday.

He's a solid hand, and probably would have been the next captain after Cam if he didnt get injured.

Is there a lot of hype around him? I feel like he's a fairly meat and potatoes style player, he's just very good at what he does.

Never going to be the flashy highlight style player.
All that future captain and state of origin player talk, I just don't see it..like he's a good player and but yeah you're right, very meat and potatoes.

Would like to see him bulk up a bit more though, same with Nikora.

He has been captain for a game, no? So the future captain stuff, while he ended up not getting the permanent gig over Blayke, isn't far off the mark. There is proof he has the leadership qualities referenced, even if he didn't end up cementing the captaincy.

Apparently is the biggest strongest version of Teig we have had - he looks decent so far. He indeed is very meat and potatoes but should always have the contract to match that. You want much more, have to find the money somewhere and hope they live up to it.
Angus Crichton on 800k at the moment and not worth that currently.

We aren't really structured to utilise a more dynamic edge player. Not to say we couldn't work them into plan more if we had one with a broader skillset of course. But our backs to the hard yards in defensive zone, our middle do the hard yards mid field and at the line. Our edges run lines or shortballs off shapes in attack.

One of the interesting moves we have seen a few times is during get out sets Nikora float out to the wing and we've had good results from that at times. Don't really want to over utilise it though I guess. Teig probably doesn't quite have the same pace to get a bit of space on the outside like Nikora though.
