I think it was Jack Gibson's? Have memories of seeing other pictures of him with the dog.

It is pretty funny though now you mention it :)

It was Jack Gibson's. We used to go down and watch them train and it either stood next to him or followed him around. Was always there.

On the far right of the pic is a guy in a tracksuit... I think that is John Lee who is now:

Mr John Lee, Director General - Department of Premier and Cabinet (NSW State Government)

Iron,

I was in the States at around that time... not sure. I have vague memories of him being a trainer / fitness coach sort of thing.

Do you know John L?

Thanks Sixgill and Shark68. And I remembered where I saw the picture, on the back of Gibson's book "Winning starts on Monday."

And it is the same John Lee (not that I knew before, well spotted fitz):

Much of Lee’s guidebook on running a bureaucracy comes from a former rugby league coach – the late and great Jack Gibson.
Lee was a trainer with the Cronulla Sharks from 1983 to 1990, when Gibson coached the team.
Gibson was an early management guru and a walking collection of pithy sayings. Among them: ‘‘played strong, done good’’; ‘‘in football, if you are standing still, you’re going backwards fast’’; and ‘‘talent is secondary to whether players are confident’’.
