What I described is nearly every fight in the history of rugby league, highlighted a little by the fact it took even longer for anyone on the blues side to get there.
Are you telling me in the heat of the moment he should calmly try and step between the two 'guy guys cmon please guys'
Reverse the 3rd player in and it's Paulo or Yeo or Latrell Mitchell who is third man in and it's gunna play out pretty similar, they will physically and aggressively impose themselves onto Gagai to stop the fight. If Burton finally lands a couple while that happens so be it.
It's a bit dog for sure, but it's normal in the circumstances.

I think Tino tried to grab Burton and pull him away, but Burton was stronger than he expected. - so he used a bit of extra force and an ugly technique. He wasn’t holding him for Gagai to punch him, and grabbing a guy is not worth a fine or suspension imo. The neck contact he deserved something for though.
Good thing Burton actually threw some punches instead of getting pushed down and beaten up. Saved himself 2 weeks

Although I guess as percentage of match payment, 23% of his pizza wouldn't be too bad...
I agree I don't think Tino was trying to turn Burton into a punching bag, he wasn't super fussed if Burton got punched while he took him to ground but that's definitely different from just holding someone to be punched.

Yeah - who was it who did that in the 90’s? Wasn’t it Matt Ridge v Garry Jack? Can’t remember who the third bloke in was and who exactly got the beating. That’s the only one I remember where a player actually held a guy so his mate could punch him.

Hugged him to break it up like they always do in scuffles now? It's just none of NSW rocked up to hug the other bloke so he got a few cheap ones away.
Ben Ross v Melbourne comes to mind also. While I wouldn't say the other two Storm players grabbed Ross to hold him for a beating throwing the first punch after the bloke is held by two people is... not ideal.
But I guess chipping a kicker in the head with your elbow isn't ideal either.

And anyone standing between two blokes throwing hay makers is there to get himself knocked out. Do you blokes see coppers break up fights by standing in between the punches? No, they grab a couple mates and tackle blokes aggressively to the ground.
Well I just watched Ian Roberts beat the piss out of Jack while a couple of his teammates pretty much restrained him and held him upright.
I wouldn't say that was their motivation to hold him for a flogging but I bet Jack wishes they'd pulled him to ground.
