Probably been mentioned before, but when the ball hit Welshes leg and it was technical offside, Ref blew 6 again. I thought that's an automatic penalty or does ref have discretion. In front of post 10 mins from FT.

It was certainly reffed to not be a blow out…love rabs but the stats all game give it a spell.. a player makes a run under pressure John’s “origin run right there” pls you can give it a rest as well….
Didn’t seem as many players telling us it’s the fastest hardest toughest game of their lives. .. end rant

Yep, I only watch 9 when Fox isn't available (Origin, Grand Final) and while some of the Fox commentators are infuriating Johns was hilariously bad.

Wish it was Rabs and Vossy every game.

I thought penalty to Qld and warning to Tedesco anymore infringements and someone would go was not reflected in the endless slow rucks from Queensland that were just ruck infringements.
NSW were penalised 5 times to Queensland 2, but ruck infringements were reversed (2 by NSW 4 by Qld). Queensland gave away a stack defending their line, no penalty, no warning of potential send off.
The one that was the opening penalty surely is just a ruck infringement not a penalty?
I definitely think there was some different refereeing applied.

Meanwhile NSW worst side of the series and Queenslands best.

Showed how good Cleary and Luai were. I bet Freddy regrets not going with Walker and Reynolds now.

Yep.

I get the whole loyalty thing but the fact is Wighton has been bog average all year. Crazy decision.

Yep agree. But I guess Freddie thought that since he had Wighton on the bench all series and part of the 17 that it wouldn't look good if he brought someone else outside of the squad in front of him. But he shouldn't have been picked in the squad in the first place.

It's laughable that Laurie Daley was saying before the first Origin side was announced that Wighton should be the 6 instead of Luai. "You need a real Origin number 6 in there and Luai is an unknown quantity." But we all know what his agenda was there being a Raiders man.

Yep, those successful club combos make a huge difference. Walker and Mitchell would have run riot, and you'd lose nothing with Reynolds over Moses

And Api was an odd 14 choice too, given lack of flexibility he provided.
I think Wighton (in bad form), Moses and Api were all selected with some amount of 'result doesn't matter, see how they go' in mind.
Had the game been on the line Walker, Reynolds and keep Wighton at 14 was probably the better call. Doesn't fix Wightons form but he can play a range of roles if needed.

On another note, and easy in hindsight knowing Latrell only kicked the ball 49/50 meters for that penalty, I would have preferred we kick for distance and have an attacking set at them - go for the win.
IF he made the kick we get a draw situation to play from which is fine, but if he misses we near guarantee a loss. With series decided should have sent the boys down 20-30 out from the Queensland line knowing they need a try to win the game and see what they can come up with.

Sorry egg, I know you've decided that we should stop talking about origin now, even though you followed that up by posting a link to an origin related video.

I think with the Latrell missed goal at the end, they were banking on him kicking it dead if he missed. Then they'd get the ball back.

No one expected him to fall short that's for sure - he has got a big boot. But perhaps the one comment Joey got right all night was that after almost 78 minutes of play he was just too fatigued to kick it that far.

I think the choices were more based in the fact that Walker and Reynolds are at the end of their careers, where as Moses and Wighton are younger and viewed as potential origin players. With the idea being to get them some experience for down the track.
If the series was 1-1, I suggest we probably would have seen Walker and Reynolds.

I guess Freddy didn't account for the fact that Wighton has been in awful form and Moses is a myth. Neither should see a blue jersey ever again with full fitness.

Joey's commentary for this play was pretty spot on, even after the game. If Latrell says in that moment, "i've got this", you give him the ball. Given our attack all game we werent exactly likely to roll down and score. On another given day he probably puts that in the stands from 50 out. I think it was the right play at the time.

Yeah true I guess I stopped considering that, at the time I did think he'd kick it dead either way. It was only falling short which would **** the blues over.

Fell pretty short of going dead in the end though, at the time had to kick it approx 51m with decent height to score, it dropped hard so probably made it 50 of those meters with enough height, so he kicked it 50/61 meters required to go dead, or only around 80% of the distance needed. Long way short.

Yeah , should of posted the humorous Fatty video first then the comment about QLD played well lets move on after it :)
Just posted video to lighten things up a tad
Wasn't aimed at you , just so much bitching and moaning that NSW Lost
Unfair , baaaah , baaaah , baaaah
Just wanted to give credit where credits due
NSW weren't at their best , end of story , even allowing for refereeing or non-refereeing decisions

Check out Hunt's second try

Wtf was that effort from Payne Haas throwing his arm out at Hunt? He was close enough to tackle him

Can we please have a rule where no Origin talk is permitted in the Origin thread?

Talks fine
Whinging and bitching about a loss gets VERY monotonous
But , you are correct
I can check out of this thread

PS : I didn't think you even cared much about Origin

Hass was out defending at centre after the break, clearly out of position. Probably could have made a better effort though. The part of that try that killed me was watching Moses casually jog back and make **** all effort to help. Sums him up perfectly.
