Thanks for all of the above comments. Unfortunately I won't be able to fix anything for tonight, so probably just enjoy the footy and don't expect too much here.

But I made a lot of progress today in setting up the new server, and am running through the migration processes again, particularly checking the migration process for attachments/files.

Expect a change some time within the next week.

When the new forum is launched, it will require re-login. It may be time to just check that you know your password and/or check that your email address is correct in case a password reset is needed. (mainly for anyone who has been logged in forever, and has forgotten their password/email etc). I'll add a notice regarding that once I have the timing clear.

I share to same sentiment SF.
Appreciate all the work you constantly put in to keep this place running.
Thanks for all the work and upkeep of the forum!

So I will share some rep and come back to you!

Could probably give himself 1 billion rep, but I'm sure the sentiment is appreciated 🙂

Really appreciate the time you put into keeping this place running, SF. Some of the comments probably trigger automated shut down protocols designed to protect you and the entire internet, so I'm not surprised we're seeing glitches in the Matrix (especially when HB's posting...)

I have an issue with the right scroller bar not displaying on some some forum pages when first entering from main page and need to refresh page for it to display. Only happens on this site.

Sorry all, I have been seeing the database error emails, but have had no time at all the past week or two, and I didn't think anyone would be too worried once we bowed out this year.

I believe my web hosts have put in restrictions on the number of connections to the database, or otherwise there is some other sort of extra unexplained traffic (e.g. crawlers).

I think the best long-term solution is to move web hosts and make the long-threatened switch from vBulletin to XenForo.

There's going to be some short-term pain and loss of functionality and maybe some things look funny, but we will have the whole off-season to work it out. And if for some reason it still is not good enough, I guess then maybe explore an alternative (e.g. a subreddit).

I was going to wait until after the finals series, but if it is indeed making the site unusable, then I think I will just bite the bullet and get it done. I'm going to do some more planning and testing today, and will update later.

If this new web host lets us post bigger pictures and let us post working gifs then I’m all for it.

I've never seen the highlighter yellow sticky notice before, it must be big!

Yep, cheers for everything SF.

Oh, and if the update includes automatically clearing the posts you tick for multi-replies so I don't keep including them in every new post, that would be amazing too ;)

I don't like the aesthetics of the yellow banner, this update sucks

Hey SF, the original email I logged on to this site many years ago is now disabled and no longer works.

Will that be a problem with this update?

Hardy-har-har. :)

Part of the internal review involves clearing up room in the salary cap for new additions. I’ve heard you might be on the move to the Cowboys forum bud, is that true?
