Official Signings, Transfers & Recruitment Discussion 2026

I'd be a little nervous about Metcalfe, but if he can stay healthy there's plenty of points in that team
100% Metcalf & Drinkwater are going to be a serious threat if they can click.
There forward pack is going to be one of the best in the nrl imo in 2 years time if they all stay together.

or the coach is telling the truth and he is happy with Brit but also Brit is not playing his absolute best football.
Yeah but we go around in circles when this happens to every player.... then they end up back in the starting lineup.

The fact is the coach brings all injured forwards back via the bench, so when Nikora or anyone comes back via the the bench for a week or three that is not evidence of the player performing poorly.

I'm aware people think he is playing poorly, but they are bending the truth to fit their view of things when they point to a "benching".

Are you happy with Brits performances of late mate?

I know why he was bench coming back from injury the week before
I also know he wasn’t playing well enough to get more than 30 mins off the bench in a prelim
Both at the discretion of the coach

That's what you think. Not what you know.

Sure - but it's not about that really.

If someone is playing well or poorly why can't we make it about what they are doing well or poorly, rather than resorting to "he was dropped" when the coach said he was injured/recovering, or pulling out stats which we know the coach wouldn't give a **** about. It's not about tallying counting stats for supercoach. It's about doing specific jobs at specific times. I never had a coach past age 15 who counted runs or metres, but if I missed a specific assignment somewhere you could bet I was going to get a rocket in the video session. The first (only) time I was ever dropped from cup was because a scrum screwed. I was left second rower and couldn't get to my defensive position quick enough. Halfback missed a tackle and let a try in. I didn't even miss a tackle. Somebody else did - but it was my job to be there to help him and I didn't do it. I should have broken early. Taking a risk on the ref is much preferred to pissing off your coach. He wants you in certain places at certain times, and 90% of the time that doesn't involve you making a tackle or touching the ball.

Since this is the signings thread though... if it's a discussion about value then that is obviously valid. I reckon even the most ardent Nikora supporter would agree that Burns on his day can do almost as good a job for significantly less money. If Nikora wants to get paid and someone has the $$ to do it then good luck to him. Lots of these guys took a discount to "keep the band together" so nobody could blame any of them for taking the big money as they approach 30.

Story saying Mason Barber has signed the the contract now with the bears for next season.

Rumour also is his management have been told he will get first crack playing fullback with Meaney playing in his preferred centre position to start the season.

Wow. You were bored at work today!

Fletcher Baker has been released by the dogs and joins Manly effective immediately.

He was always pretty mediocre but to not even be getting anywhere near a bench (that I've noticed) is a big drop off
