Official Signings, Transfers & Recruitment Discussion 2026

Usually I hate speculation until it is confirmed but I'll play devil's advocate this time.

Let's say Manu does sign with us. He's certainly not going to play wing and he's not going to displace Tricky at 6 you would think. Although he'd be great back up there if Tricky gets injured.

That leaves fullback or centre.

If he comes and Will is still killing it and Jesse has recovered from his injury and is also killing it, where do you put Manu?

We definitely dont want to upset the camp like the Bulldogs last year with Galvin.

If they announced it for next year it would be great.

Agree, although happily take him this season if it worked, on the estimation Jesse may not be killing it.

It would 100% be for fullback mate

In that scenario. 2026 right centre, 2027 fullback.

Right centre.

Jesse can come on through the middle vs tired bodies and put his offload to use

Frédéric Michalak Is currently coaching Manu.
It’s a done deal imo.

Very interesting

I do like Manu but not sure if he works for us, he’s not much of a ball player and will it be too much of a change

Are you both happy to have Manu in our side? Do you think he would make a difference?

Turns 30 in June, getting a bit old possibly????
I'm very firmly in the we need to try shoot our shot with this squad camp. So I think any opportunity to strengthen the squad with an elite player during this period is one I would take. I don't think now is the time to be conservative. We were right in that prelim last year away against Melbourne, but were beaten by the x-factor in their spine. There's every chance a Manu flick pass or catch could do the same for us. Also worth noting that if anyone would know whether Manu would fit into our side, it's Fitz.
Depends how much he wants.
I don't think you'd get much change from 900k. And if it's a 2.5 year deal I'm okay with that. I don't love the idea of big money for 3-3.5 years.

I'm okay to back him to be our guy at fullback whilst we are backing in Nicho/Tricky. If by 2028/2029 it's not working you just don't extend some/all of them and lean right into a rebuild/new signings.

If Manu goes to the Roosters then you can draw a line in Teddy, he'll only go to the Roosters again if its guaranteed Teddy retires.

Perfect scenario. He won't come back to the nrl fit enough imo to be able to handle fullback anyone each week. Will need a full pre season there.

Also, we're pretty confident Ramien won't be with us for next season. If we can get Manu for this season, tell Jesse he is free to leave immediately. There is a club out there who will 100% sign him mid season. Titans, Manly, Storm, Cows all come to mind who need another centre.

Chester, Purdue doing fine for Cows and they have Laybutt who is decent too. Don't think they'd be keen unless shifting Purdue. Manly also are fine with Garrick and Koula.

Cows are chasing Ramien for next season. He is an automatic upgrade on Chester.
Garrick is a better winger than centre. So think that upgrades their backline adding Ramien.
Titans wanted Hiroti this season which means they would probably take Ramien immediately also.
Storm were chasing Lomax which shows they're looking for an experienced outside back too.

Chester has been pretty good, but if Ramien can not have a shocker he's better. Makes sense if they will move Purdue next season, bump Chester for now, go to Chester and Ramien next season.
Agree re Garrick, think old regime were happy with backline with him at centre but Foran might be interested. For all Saabs speed he's got ample weakness and Ramien with Garrick outside him could be better.
Tits and Storm agree.
