I don’t see too many any other club being interested in Kennedy to be honest so it’s likely whatever we offer he will accept.

Only clubs that I see maybe making an enquiry would be

The Dogs, Canberra, Tigers or Dolphins.

No sure why the Dogs or Canberra would be interested.

Savage injury prone early on in his career. Not much pressure coming elsewhere for his spot so they may want to change that.

Crighton I really don’t see making that fullback position his own either. He’s a centre imo.

You may be right but they'll be giving that time to play out, no way they're spending decent coin on another FB anytime soon.

Savage, yes injury prone but again, can't see them spending good coin on another FB yet either.

He's at that price point now where if you buy him, he's your FB.

Raiders could do with some more depth. They got rid of CNK and savage is injured this year for the first 8 weeks or so. Not sure who they’ll have playing FB to start the year. Rapana?

Yeah but like I said, Kennedy isn't depth.
Kennedy won’t be getting offers any higher than 300k imo. Savage would be on similar money. If you’ve got 600k tied up into 2 fullbacks who are fighting it out for the position then you’re in a good place I say.

He'll get more than that.

Someone ask Buzz how much Kennedy is worth

If we re-signed Kennedy for 12 months that's 2024 while Crichton is there. They could have half a season or more to see how he goes before making a play for Kennedy

Mate you're dreaming, he will 100% get more than 300k, especially with the increased cap.

It's not like he's ****. Corey Allan got 500k last contract from the dogs before the cap increase.
Paid him 500k to come try be fullback
Paid JAC, what, 550k to come try?
Finally have paid out the real big bucks, for someone to come and try

If you don't think there is a premium on 'proven' spine players just look at how much dogs have been swinging around trying to find someone unproven.

(Crichton number based on new cap presumably, although the JAC number now inflated like 100k too)

I do not think getting Kennedy only for 12 months and then hoping that Dykes will get better and get in form is a good strategy. As you said, I think 2 years is a better deal and then let him and Dykes fight it out.
Theres other options avaliable in 2025 - both here and overseas - Welsby for example.
Anything longer than 12 month extension and we miss that boat

Not sure we need to be looking externally unless there's an opportunity for a proven gun. I'd let someone else take the punt on Welsby for what he'll be worth.

Yep. Unless we see Dykes as a 5/8 there's no way you'd be recruiting another FB unless it's a Suaalii or the like.

Allan has some utility value, where I don't think Kennedy does... Makes his value on the market a bit hard to pin down as a club would need to be buying him as a fullback and I could see a situation where it's as a backup and not a starter, especially if we didn't offer a new contract. He hasn't had a great run recently to push his case.

That's not to say I think he's crap. I think he's pretty good when he's firing. Just that the need for him could be limited under the (hypothetical) circumstances.
