There will be no national schoolboys carnivals this year (15’s or 18’s).

The Australian Schoolboys team for 18’s only will still be selected based on the selectors watching each of the separate state carnivals.

The Sharks players born in 2003 will be eligible, including Wilson, Hardy and Abbu-Arrage who were all in the Australian u15’s schoolboys in 2018.

Yep, pretty sure the CAS one in Darwin still proposed at this stage. Should just reschedule the lot there from QLD.

Sorry - I stuffed up in the SG Ball. The comp was originally announced as having a 6-team finals, and the original draw released by NSWRL had only two games being played on week one of the finals, but the revised draw online shows 4 games. Apparently the revised online one is wrong. Still a top 6 only.

So the Sharks need to win AND have Norths (last - zero wins) beat Illawarra, or St. George (second last) beat Canberra.

Norths are no chance, but Canberra have been in a bit of a slump so there is an outside chance the Dragons get up.

No Dykes this week. He came off injured in the first few seconds last game and didn’t return. He might have hurt himself in the warm up or taking the kick off. Noah Lester is playing fullback.

This week in SG Ball is Round 7. It comes immediately after round 9.

Round 7 was delayed (except the Thunderbolts/Panthers) because of weather, so they are playing it after round 9.

Here are the games we are interested in:

1pm Saturday: Illawarra v North Sydney (we want Norths to win, but they won’t)
1:30pm Saturday: St. George v Canberra (we want the Dragons to win)
2:00pm Saturday: Sharks v Eels

Steelers won 80-10

Dragons are getting thumped, and so are the Sharks.

It could still be a top 8 though. The Sharks coach pulling a bunch of starters from a must-win game seems like an odd call. The draw stills shows 4 games next week. No team can pass them for 8th.

Too 6. Sharks are done. I’ll add a link to the highlights and summarise the season soon.

Sikei, Hosking and Stonestreet are all named in Jersey Flegg.

Local 18’s and 20’s comps start very soon. I’d guess that most players will head back to their respective clubs. I’ll keep an eye on those comps once they get rolling.
