Seeing as we currently dont have Burgess to do this guess I'll provide updates when I see them.

Australian Schoolboy team played France the other day. They destroyed them by 50 points.

Team had 3 Sharks in it

1. Jack Attard
2. Luke Tuialii
3. Nikora Williams. - Played a few games for Flegg this year on the wing. I think he's more of a centre. Good goal kicker apparently. Played for the Schoolboys last year on the wing. He's in good company where players have toured twice with the Schoolboys team
4. Sam Stephenson
5. Mason Barber
6. Mitchell Woods
7. Toby Rodwell
8. Alex Challenor - scored a try in the game. Has some wraps. Played SG Ball this year, assume he'll go up to Flegg next year. Think he might have been named on an extended bench a few times
9. Lachlan Coinakis
10. Cody Hopwood
11. Jacob Halangahu
12. Zac Garton
13. Thomas Dellow - reigning Sharks Junior Representative Player of the Year and was awarded the prestigious title of CHS Player of the Carnival. Played SG Ball this year and also assume will play Flegg next year.
14. Jared Haywood
15. Simione Laiafi
16. Ryda Talagi
17. Tyson Sangalang
18. Lincoln Fletcher

Attard a Panthers fullback
Woods highly rated half signed to Dogs and in their top 30 next year. He was NSW U19 halfback, so that was playing up a year I think if he's also in this side.

Checked to see how many others from this side also played U19 SOO
Hopwood, Halanaghu, both also played NSW
Stephensen, Garton both played Qld

Ryda Talagi is Blaize's brother
Rodwell's dad played over 200 NRL games

No doubt Attard will get picked up by someone seeing as Edwards has that spot locked down for a while

If he's 18, may not be seriously NRL ready until 22+, Edwards 28 now so be around 32. Edwards also signed until that point too (2028).
Edwards may take a pre-retirement contract somewhere or Attard happy to wait him out if he did stay another year or two.

If Attard gets close to ready for NRL sooner (in next two years) then might be best to move.
It's not beyond Panthers to make plans to bring him back if they wanted to.

Burgo would’ve no doubt been pleased to see a lock getting some recognition

Newtown Jets

Where they finished
: P2 15-8-1 record PREMIERS

Newtown had a familiar look about them in 2024. With George Ndaria taking the reins for a second successive season, hopes were high for the Jets as they looked to put last season’s disappointing collapse behind them and charge for finals glory.

Newtown started the year dismally, sitting in 11th after Round 8 after a dismal showing at GIO Stadium, looking a step behind the pace. But in reality, that was the turning point. Newtown had to fix their attacking output and signed discarded Bulldog Khaled Rajab. Rajab became a big part of the Jets attack and his partnership with Sharks top 30 member Niwhai Puru became important.

Chris Vea’ila was another to shine in open-age football this season finding a home at centre and not looking back, averaging just under 100m a game, 25 tackle-breaks and 7 linebreaks. Sam Stonestreet had a classy second season of open-age football, scoring 13 tries in 19 games while averaging 156 metres a game to go with the hat-trick in the State Championship against the Devils. A strong off-season will place plenty of pressure on Sione Katoa for the Sharks wing spot. Jayden Berrell and Sam Healey (although he will depart the club) boasted the best dummy-half rotation in the competition.

They also got strong support from part-time forwards Kyle Pickering and Blake Hosking who lifted to extraordinary heights this season. Meanwhile, recruit Billy Burns lifted the side brilliantly boasting 10 tries, 10 linebreaks, 4 line-break assists and 14 offloads while tackling at a 90% efficiency rate. Other Sharks forwards Braden Hamlin-Uele and Tuku Hau Taupha showed their class with some massive performances in the middle for the Jets on their charge to the title.

The Jets finished the season in 2nd position, turning Henson Park into a fortress (dropping just two games at home) which saw them play Canberra in the opening week of the finals where they wiped the floor with the Raiders in ruthless fashion. This saw the Jets take on the Bears where the Jets fell just short of making it straight through to the grand final. They had a second battle with Canberra which was tenacious and a tightly fought contest before a penalty goal in the second half saw the Jets fly to the grand final. A strong team performance saw the Jets taste victory for the first time in five years with Puru tasting Man of the Match honours.

The Jets were unable to return to their State Championship glory of 2019, suffering a heartbreaking two point loss to the Devils, but the pathways are well in place for the Jets of today to become the Sharks of the future.

NRL ROSTER WATCH: Kade Dykes also returned from a long injury lay-off in Round 4 and was showing glimpses of talent that saw him make his NRL debut in 2022. Sadly, after a spectacular hat-trick against Blacktown in Round 10, the injury gods struck Dykes out for the season after undergoing “a surgical procedure on his knee to restore his cartilage”. He is one of those players who just needs a bit of luck with the injury gods after two seasons being ended prematurely, whether he remains at full-back or makes the anticipated move to five-eighth.

Young gun Liam Ison was spectacular in the absence of Dykes and showed his class. In just 16 matches, Ison had 10 tries, 11 try-assists, 110 tackle-breaks and 9 line-breaks on top of averaging 138 metres a game including a monster performance in the NRL State Championship. Despite a spectacular season from Will Kennedy at the NRL level, Ison is chomping at his heels and is NRL-ready to make the jump to fullback two on the Sharks depth chart in the absence of Dykes.

Cronulla Sharks signed three Australian Schoolboys to new contracts

from the “League Live” app

Story by Ethan Lee Chalk

The Cronulla Sharks have announced that they have signed three Australian Schoolboys to new contracts as they aim to lock up the next generation of players for the foreseeable future.

Named in the Australian Schoolboys team, centre Nikora Williams, lock forward Thomas Dellow and middle forward Alex Challenor have all signed new deals until the end of the 2027 NRL season.

The Sharks have also announced the retention of five more players who have been key to their junior pathways teams, which compete in competitions such as the Harold Matthews Cup, SG Ball Cup, and Jersey Flegg Cup.

Front-rower Felix Faatili has extended his tenure at the club until the end of the 2026 NRL season and will train with the NRL squad in the upcoming pre-season after an impressive season in the Jersey Flegg.

Callum Grantham (signed until 2028), Oliver Lester (2027), Blake Whatman (2027) and Jai Davies (2026) have also re-signed with the club after spending this year in the Harold Matthews Cup competition.

All four players will train with the NRL squad sometime during their tenure at the Shire-based club.

Yeah it's a bit old, all the posts are split all over the place, maybe my new thread didn't help either :)

It's a pretty strong foundation for the future. I know not all will make it, but it has the foundations of a strong spine up until around 2027
  • 1. Oliver Lester
  • 2.
  • 3. Nikora Williams
  • 4.
  • 5.
  • 6. Callum Grantham
  • 7. Riley Pollard
  • 8. Felix Faatili (2026)
  • 9.
  • 10. Jai Davies
  • 11. Alex Challenor (prop for Aus Schoolboys, normally a lock)
  • 12. Blake Watman
  • 13. Thomas Dellow
(not to mention all the other players available)

Aside from Felix, the only ones I've really seen play are Grantham and Lester, they were in the big Cronulla-Caringbah vs Como U16s Grand Final last year (2023). Both were standouts back then. Dellow was the Como captain, but I wasn't really aware of him at that time. Cronulla-Caringbah had a big win then, but Como reversed it in the U17 Semi Finals this year with Grantham not there for CCSharks.

Blake Watman is following in Tom Hazelton's steps from Goulburn, though looks like he plays a few positions including 5/8.

Nikora Williams named in the Peter Mulholland Cup team of the year

Speaking of Hosking…. Not sure if this is a Sharks contract at all, or purely a Jets contract? Sounds more like the Jets
