Qld are going u21 for their state-based comp next year too. There will be separate 18’s (SEQ) and 19’s (country) comps.

This means Ryan Rivett will likely line up for Burleigh in the 21’s (unless he makes the Q Cup squad). I’ll keep an eye on their squad announcements to see how he is tracking.

Probably other places this can go but it's going here.

Endeavour play in the QF's today at 11 in the Schoolboy cup.

Atleast 4 Sharks players I know of, could be more.

Joshua Finau - he was in an article last year. Big tall dangerous forward.
Billy Burke - very promising junior but was out for over a year I think with a back injury. Lock forward.
Tully Wilton - Teig's brother. Halfback but playing off the bench in this game.
Izayah Tuigamala - Nuggety prop, needs to wear 25 jersey because others don't fit him. Think we were/are talking to him.

ENDEAVOUR SPORTS HIGH

1. Dylan Hema 2. Jaiden French 3. Lajuan Vito 4. James Roach 5. Te Wehi Waitere 6. Callum Perryman 7. Iverson Matai 25. Izayah Tuigamala 9. Kobie Wilson 10. Joshua Finau 11. Sam Jinks 12. Billy Burke 13. Lachlan Gibbs BENCH: 14. Tully Wilton 8. Chase Roberts 16. Selwyn Smith 17. Dranza Hawe-De Thierry 18. Kynan Hodges 19. Blake Canavan 20.Thomas Siumaka

EDIT

After further digging the 1 , 5 , 6, and 13 also play for us. Well they were in our Mathews Cup squad in 2018

Kobie Wilson too.

These Sharks players would all be in SG Ball Next year (19’s) but I could see Finau or Burke playing up in JF.

Unofficial Word is No Thunderbolts in the 21s next year. Big Shame- as they were just starting to make good progress. Decision will hurt the Local Comp, particularly lower age Rep aspirations. One less away game and travel expense, for the Sharkies i guess.

Cheers for that. Not great for the game as a whole, but probably a good short term cost-saver.

I haven’t seen anything on Sharks JF trials. Must be close though. I think other teams have trialled already.

Need to play a game soon. At the rate teams are pulling the pin there will nobody left to play by the end of Feb.

Jersey Flegg played their second trial game yesterday v Bulldogs (then played Manly last week)

They won 28–12

No team list was released, but the following players were either listed in the write-up or shown in photos: Kayal Iro, Kyle Pickering, Jack Martin, Franklin Pele, Angus Ernst, Jack Boyling, Thomas Giles, Bailey Cantrill

Tevaga, Ieriko, Lualua and Damon Smith were all part of NRL pre-season training.

No draw yet, but the write-up says the season starts in 2 weeks.

I don't think I've posted this previously - Jangala Bennet played club Rugby Union in Brisbane last year. For now I'm counting him as one of the departures for the 21's, though I guess they could have just let him go home during Covid.

He didn't equate too much, was either injured or very uninspiring in the games I saw. Was tiny also.

Cronulla might have said goodbye to Valentine Holmes but Sharks fans might not have to wait too long for a replacement fullback to emerge if the club's faith in a teenage rugby sensation pays off.

Jangala Bennet, 18, has arrived in the Sutherland Shire with a big reputation after helping Brisbane's Nudgee College to a GPS First XV title in 2018.

The Sharks are keeping a lid on the talented teenager with the dancing feet but there have already been comparisons made to a young Johnathan Thurston or Ben Barba.

Guess the clubs faith didn't pay off...
