Another win for the 20’s today. Now 9 and 1.

Usual 17 played this game. No Bennet. Cruz and Wilton played up with the Jets.

Got their early to watch this game, I generally get their early to catch the next group of youngsters coming through. I was particularly interested in this game since we're

1) Top of the table
2) Generally smashing teams

Previous years when we're doing well there's a few standouts - Mills, Pickerd, Townsend, Frizell, Peachey, Carr, Holmes etc. Some make it, others don't but you can generally tell.

After watching this game I feel this team is a team that is well coached and really focuses on the 1%. They're a smart well drilled team.

- The 7 went to the Jeff Robson kick to the corners
- kick chases are excellent
- General team chat is excellent
- Some big forwards and a few big backs.
- Safe wingers who make pretty good metres.

I think at this level the above will get you very far in the comp.

The stand out players I keep noticing are Kula and Pele. Pele is a monster, defn one to watch but needs to work on his fitness. He's gigantic.

The full back looks decent too, nice runner, kicks goals. One of the centres looks good too, decent size.

Previous years gone by I'd be a bit dissapointed there's no clear guns coming through..... but when you factor in we have Nikora, Xerri, Brailey Jr, Uele, Williams with maybe Flanno and Brailey Sr sticking around. Plus we have Mulitalio, Ferris, Katoa, Trindall and Wilton also coming through then we probably have a good amount of youth already in our squad. I've probably missed a few players too.

As the season progresses perhaps the guns will rise to the top but right now its a very well drilled and coached team imo.

Another win for the 20’s. 25-24 against the Raiders.

Kai Broadhurst played his first game for the 20’s in place of Millard. He kicked a field goal before half time which ended up being the winner (he was the 7 in the 18’s last year).

Cruz came off the bench.

The team otherwise lined up as per usual.

The 20’s have a game this week.

Team is named as per last week (no Millard) with Lorenzo Mulitalo and Deighton Ieriko added to the extended bench.

No game for the Jets this week so you could see one or two of the u20 aged guys come back down for this one (Trindall, Ronaldo, Cruz, Wilton)

Ieriko is a prop/lock I believe. He’s from NZ and born in 2000. He has had some games with the Wolves this year.

Flegg team won 32-14 over Norths on the weekend. They are now 5 points clear of 2nd place.

Millard and Raper missed this game. Lorenzo Mulitalo and Deighton Ieriko both got a run.

Similar lineup next week. No Millard but Raper is back.

Bennet is still playing at Como

I don't think it's a team of just average players. A team of just average players don't lead the comp by 5 points imo ?

There's a few key players who are pretty handy - like the FB, Pele, Kula. Monty goes OK. Wingers aren't huge but make great metres and super safe under the high ball.

In saying that I do think the team is playing very well as a team, they all know their jobs, best defence in the comp, smart kicking game etc.

I'm sure we'll see some of these guys progress further

Should be solid next year too. Less than half are graduating this year too. All of the backs except Millard should be back next year. They’ll lose a few forwards but will keep Pele and Longmuir plus some of the better 18’s will grab the free spots (Giles, Smith, Parker).

An update on the Jersey Flegg team through round 16, with a bye coming in round 17.

The team had their second loss of the season last weekend, going down 30-6 to the Bulldogs. They still have a 3 point lead on second place.

The lineup has stayed consistent other than for injury. Interestingly, for a team dominating the competition they did not have a single player selected in the NSW or Qld U20 side. That is consistent with the "very good team with no outstanding players" comments a few have made.

Regular Lineup

1. Jonaiah Lualua
2. Jonah Ngaronoa
3. Jensen Taumoepeau
4. Vito Tevaga
5. Josh Delailoa
6. Jayden Millard
7. Angus Ernst
8. Tom Hazelton
9. Isaac Longmuir
10. Monty Raper (C)
11. Tom Caughlan
12. Jack Boyling
13. Fine Kula
-
14. Franklin Pele
15. Connor Luhan
16. Jackson Stewart
17. James Russell
* Lachlan Scarpelli
* Cruz Topai-Aveai (he has been splitting time between the 20's and the Jets)

Other players:
Tom Harris, Lorenzo Mulitalo, Kai Boradhurst, Jangala Bannett and Deighton Ieriko have also seen some game time

Squad members playing in other competitions

University/Glebe Lorenzo Mulitalo, Zane Elsey and William Swann

Como - Jangala Bennet, Tom Colquhoun (SG Ball), Lachlan Scarpelli

Gymea - Kai Broadhurt, Jack Gould, Adam Mortlock, George Sukanaivalu, Laken Caldwell, Kyle Pickering (SG Ball) and Sidney Noppen (SG Ball)

Engadine - Cooper Bowen and Tom Harris

De La Salle - Nathan Atkinson, Tom DeMeio (SG Ball) and Marco Talagi (SG Ball)

Missed the first 20 mins of this game. Ended up a being a 20 all draw. Souths player had a kick at full time to win it but missed.

Scored was 16 - 0 against us but we scored 3 quick tries and started making good metres.

We still lack any significant X factor imo. The backs look like they have potential, big bodies, fast but they don't seem to make many breaks.

I do like Frank the Tank Pele though. Guys is a menace when he comes on. Always making meters and knocking players over. Scored a nice barge over try to get us back in the game.

It's scary what he can become if he has the right attitude because he's a monster.

I think he can still play Flegg next year but wonder if they'll bring him up to Jets next year.
