Very interesting stuff, I would have had no idea that a try like that could be so planned out. Whether it was exactly like Elliott said, who knows but he made it sounds amazing.

I really enjoy watching the breakdown. He explains some really complex attacking and defensive structures at times. His videos started a bit clunky, but have gotten better and better.

Very interesting. I wouldn't necessarily say things are planned to the tee. But im sure aspects like targeting runs at the hooker for quick play the balls and getting the defence running back is one.
You cant really plan for the fullback to be in the defensive line but im sure the attack runs at him then knowing and when ennis kicks he then sees the fullback out of position.

I would say its more about plays to scatter the defence, then rely on quality players to create chances. Working to a tee for us so far.

Elliott does sound a bit 'enthusiastic', but it is good to know we actually have some sort of plan!

Great to see excellent decisions made once an opportunity presents off the back of this earlier work. So many threats now... we can just pick the odd man out or where the defence has been made thin, and Ennis, Townsend, Bird, even Gallen are playing smart enough to see it and create plenty of pork pies.

The breakdown is honestly one of the most informative and interesting series going round at the moment.

His breakdown of second rowers changed the way I view the game completely.

When people talk about great rugby league minds you hear the likes of Bennett, Sterlo and Gould thrown around a lot, but Elliot is one of the most underrated 'League heads' going round.

If only he was able to get his league mind and coaching ability to coincide.

Just goes to show that great footy knowledge isnt the only asset of coaching, could be a great assistant though

I have a Matt Elliot business card from back in his Raiders days. No idea how I got it.

Was it Elliot the hitch that had his players stare into each other's eyes before a game? For those that havnt seen it seriously funny stuff.

Actually I think it demonstrates the paucity of analysis in NRL commentary. All of the professional coaches could break the game down like he does. No network bothers too. Evidence: there are some clips on youtube of ancient (5-10 year old) video sessions/interviews with coaches. I remember Kurt Wrigley doing a relatively basic one on kick placement and negating returns.

It doesn't take a genius to understand how the game works, its just that every broadcaster assumes their viewers are dumb. It will come around in time, like AFL and soccer have.

So who's responsible for the attacking structure?
