I doubt that will all be available for game day though.

There would have been space for more than 700 cars before the development. Easily.

Either way, like I said I can't see us getting decent crowds going forward unfortunately.

The parking report from 2019 says....

On game days, it is proposed to allow retail customers and residential visitors to continue to
access the Town Centre precinct. Retail access on game days will occur only through the
eastern signals, and only to the basement floor. This will facilitate 200 spaces for the retail
customers and residential visitors which are less than normally available, though still a
reasonable provision. Tenants will be notified of game day operations. The remaining 566
spaces would be for retail staff, club staff and club patrons. This operation will be subject to
change following monitoring

Why wouldn't they be - We haven't gone backwards given it is now over two levels of new car parking, replacing the old shitty car park which was only available to corporates anyway unless you were there before gates opened. Depends on what your definition is of decent is. The club will be happy with continual sellouts with lower capacity.

See SF's post re parking. You're dreaming if you think that's more spaces theam the old carpark plus oval.

What's full capacity going to be for the ground?

Tell you what the lack of upgrade to the eastern grand stand or should i say, lack of allowance for future upgrade to the grand stand is a concern to me. Id have loved to see it end up tryline to tryline somewhere in the future. Not an option now.

Gunna be hard to ever expand capacity down the track
Yeah, we really put ourselves in an awkward position wit that one.

One thing they can do in the future is to lower the playing field and increase the capacity that way. However, knocking it all down and building it from scratch may be cheaper.

I wonder what impact the new planned Pokie laws (e.g. cashless machines) will have on the leagues club. It’s good that food seems to have been the main focus already. I imagine Kareela will be impacted the most. I remember way back the Woolooware club had some talk around it re money laundering.

Dunno but I'm glad something is finally hapenning. Next step should be to reduce the 90,000 pokies in the state.

Next step should be to limit sports betting advertising. Just targeting pokies is like putting limitations on Vodka and pretending people won't just drink something else.

Yeah I feel like at least the registered Clubs do put a lot of money back into local sport and community, and provide some general benefit, compared to online gambling.

If the clubs are going to be targeted like this, then some of that online bookie money should be levied to fill the void in community sponsorships.

It's not just clubs, it's pubs as well.

Can't believe the pokie issue has been allowed to drag on as long as it has.

Pubs are shithouse now compared to when I was an 18 year old.

I have been told Pokies, never used to be allowed in pubs and they used to only be allowed in clubs. Would be more than happy for it to go back to that. At least sports clubs support their communities. Pubs are just there for $$

They do, but not as much as you'd expect. Clubs get about half of it back in tax concessions, and 20% of their donations come in the form of letting the community use their facilities, such as meeting rooms etc.

Considering the obscene money they make off gambling, I'm loath to pat clubs on the back for providing a few jerseys to the local footy side.

* In saying that, there are exceptions to the rule and some clubs do great things.

I guess some of this may be different depending on the area they are in. I think a lot of clubs in rural areas and regional hubs to great things for their communities.

Yeah I don't go to pubs or clubs anymore, they hold no joy for me and you need a 2nd mortgage to get half pissed, if you're not kicked out first for having a lace untied on your shoes.
I have been going to the local, but only for a feed and the raffles. don’t go for drinking or the pokies, too rich for me 😂

The NSW premier who use to announce the same project several times over under difference catchy names actually did something in 1997 & unfortunately it was to introduce pokies into pubs in NSW . ( Bob Carr is his name , who the media still consider an expert on everything ) .

Pubs in NSW last year reportedly owned 25 % of the pokies but had 40% of the profits . I don't support pokies but feel sports betting & its advertising is a much bigger issue which needs to be addressed . The NRL & other sports are so hypocritical pushing all the latest culture fads but raking in the $$$$$$ pushing sports betting without any consideration of the audience mix .

100%

There is no due diligence on who is seeing the advertising and and even worse very little on who's creating accounts. It's so easy for kids under 18 to make one and link a card. You shouldn't have teenagers betting on sports and chatting about it in the playgrounds.

My 7 year old can quote Sportsbet ads because they're made in a funny way.

I now turn games off before and after the bell and at halftime.
