Panthers leagues club has 625 pokies machines and the bulldogs leagues club has 700

Hopefully we can fit in somewhere between 250-350
I hope we don't jam them into every nook and cranny, would be good to have a bit of space for other things.

Also depends on how many licences we have, it's very difficult to get new ones.

The demographics are very different in those two areas, our club will never be like them.

according to the government's report, we currently have licence for 216 machines at woolooware and 80 at kareela

you can find this data here

be interesting if we can increase the amount of licences given there's now shopping centre around the place.

Hope not, 216 is plenty.

Mate, go to Bankstown sports Club and walk through the gaming area.

Some of the older generation sit on the same machine - day on day.

It's quite sad really.

You want the place to be a fun environment that can attract a wide variety of patrons

But at the end of the day pokies seem to be a license to print money so we should put as many as are reasonable. We don’t really have them in WA and I don’t like them as a concept, but don’t want sharks falling behind where they could be on a moral stance against a few more if they make sense to have

It's terrible.

My Dad's wife gambled away everything they had at St George Leagues Club. The staff knew but did nothing about it, she'd walk in and all the staff would say hi to her by name despite her being very quiet, not a loud person that they'd otherwise now.

After selling their house for a million bucks 7 years ago they now have zero money. Just had to find my Dad a place in an aged care home that is covered by his pension. He is filing for bankruptcy.

He knew what she was doing but was too weak to do/say anything. He still won't say a bad word about her.

i guess if you're gunna have one you mose well have 200. its almost as bad as drug money but i guess thats how humanity works, if it makes someone rich and people wanna invest in it, give it to them, regardless of the risks involved

Thats really sad mate. Unfortunately it's getting worse and worse.

But dont worry, the Government make them put signs up to gamble responsibly.

It's sad but I don't feel sorry for him, I'd been telling him for 20 years this was going to happen.

Yep and if almost everyone else in NRL has hundreds you don't want to be one of the few without.

But HBs post highlights why I'm happy not to have them in Perth, except pretty much the casino. People still **** themselves over there too, but have to make a bit more effort to get there at least.

Don't think anyone is saying we shouldn't have any.

It will be interesting to see what patronage is like during the week during the day. Before it was knocked down there would be tumbleweeds blowing through the joint. Obviously more residents there now.

Pokies are awful. I was hooked on them a bit when I was young, all it takes is a good win and you think you can do it again and again. I don’t mind a punt but pokies will always bleed you dry. @HaroldBishop Im sorry to hear your story mate.

its interesting that we have not (according to that report) leased the licences out whilst we have been on hiatus.

the whole point of the shopping village and residences is more club patronage right

the place has to stand on its own feet like every other club without 12 home games attached
