Starting the thread early for discussion of next week's game.

Presuming this will be the Saturday game at SFS with Roosters/Rabbits playing today

The positives I see are that this was our first big game in many weeks, and we went so close, didn't let anyone down.

And Shire people love going to a new venue... hopefully we get a decent crowd to this one still, despite the heartbreak of last night

Never been so deflated to watch a sharks semi final. Can’t see how they will bounce back from last night that’s a season killing loss tbh. Will either fire up and come out red hot or we will just be hot garbage - I’m thinking the latter… even if we pull off a miracle and win this game the panthers will destroy us the following week anyway.

Will it be at Homebush so it’s not a Roosters home game if Roosters win?

And new SFS is Souths win?

Yeah but still good to make the pre lim game. Might aswell not play finals at all with that attitude

Lucky I am not playing in finals 😂 I just don’t recall a team having to play all four finals games and winning the comp. I think you basically have to win a qualifying final to have a real shot at winning a GF. We had our big chance last night and although I thought we should have won we didn’t and now find ourselves in the hard side of the draw.

You also have to remember you play a team full of confidence in week 2. Roosters will be fired up after taking out a good win today.

I can see cowboys vs panthers GF

Nope.

As an athlete, you still hurt today but you rest, go out and try to clear your mind. Distract yourself and try to stop your brain over analyzing the game last night (your brain goes into I could have done this better or do this differently immediately).

Maybe you have an extraday off - i do not know how it works in footy.

Your first training back, you have a new purpose and an itch that you want to scratch next week (or next competition). You attack your sets (training).

I think they will be fired up and ready. They have a score to settle.

Penrith last year, lost first one won the comp.. Pro athletes have the mental capacity to dust themselves off and front up the following week they get that chance. We tend to do better when backs against the wall mentality would really like to win one finals game.

If we play at SFS will they make the lights in the stadium black white and blue instead of Roosters colours?

Yeah going out in straight sets would be really disappointing after the year we have had. We have put our ourselves in a good position all year would suck to lose the last two

In Fitz we trust to get them up & firing again remembering we had 4 that had their first run for a few weeks last night .

Lets get past next week then we can worry about the Panthers .

Pre-season I thought 6th would be a par this year so happy next week regardless .

Whilst I thought Fifita was good in his cameo last night think Tolman might be better option next week .

We need the likes of Hunt & BHU to be playing better & longer next week & plus Finucane to be better .

Tolman can play long minutes to help rotation options , improve our defence for longer plus put in that extra effort to be in the right place when needed
( or on the quiet - know when to give away a penalty when necessary such as when Deaden came through middle of ruck last night & Dale waved him through as he was maybe offside )
