Brisbane's newest rugby league club, the Hills District Panthers, have formed an affiliation with the Cronulla Sharks.

Sharks centre Ryan McGoldrick joined Hills District CEO Grant Noyce and Cronulla General Manager Steve Rogers to launch the club's playing strip at their inaugural season launch in January 2005.

The Panthers will play in the Mixwell Cup, the state's second tier competition, before setting their sights on entering the Queensland Cup in 2006.

The junior club's products include Brad Thorn (Broncos) and Shane Tronc and David Myles (Cowboys).

Steve Rogers says the Cronulla club is happy to be involved with the area and its junior players, and believes the partnership with Hills District will be a fruitful one.

With the amount of kids who come out of this area, we see it as another opportunity to spread our wings and give kids a chance to play rugby league at the most senior level.

I can't wait for the day when there is a Wests Arana Hills junior playing first grade for the Cronulla Sharks,? Rogers enthused.
