The cross training you're doing will help plus you've done a half before, you will be right.
.
Yeah I'm more worried about the body holding up than my fitness being high enough. I think as long as I do at least one long run a week from here I should be fine.

i gave up on running for the time being, i figured i was too heavy and it was hurting my knee

so i started F45 8 week challenge

start of the 4th week, i am 6.7kg down and 3 belt sizes

will take to running when i have completed the second 8 week challenge
Top effort mate. I'm officially the lightest I've been since school now, I'm down another 8kg on the end of last year (although I blew out a little in December).

No good mate. What happened there? Footy injury?
Yeah mate, been happening on & off since preseason. After about 2 months straight of it being swollen I went & saw someone. Ligament damage, got told to get off it before it got out of control

New marathon record set last weekend of 2:01:39. That's 2:53 seconds per km over 42.2km!!!

I can't even do that speed for 1km. Insane stuff.

Terribly mate, I had a ordinary season with injuries in footy last year that left me struggling to do anything. In the course of a bit over year packed 27kg back on.

I'm giving both footy & basketball a miss this season to try & let the body recover & focus on trying to start my side business.

Over the last month & a half I've started running with my missus who has never been a runner. We started on the couch to 5k running program which is below where my fitness is at but is working as a good way back into fitness anyway. Nearly up to running the 5k with her & then from there we will push a bit harder. I'm actually doing a 5km Mothers Day Classic with my mum on Sunday which will be the first time I've run 5km or more in ages.

Thankfully I've lost 8 of the 27kg in this time, trying to eat a bit cleaner & do some gym work outs. A long way to go to get back to where I was but I'm thinking my footy days might be behind me now & I'll concentrate more on running.

Yeah that is a fair bit to stack on mate. I'm biased but I think running is the best form of exercise to lose weight.

Summer doesn't help either. I struggled for motivation during the hotter months but it's come back now. Much nicer running in cooler weather.

Yeah it was a pretty poor effort, I had next to no exercise just hobbling around in games from time to time to make the numbers.

I'd gotten very comfortable in a new relationship as well. We have both had it with how much we've put on & are attacking it together so that's good.

It's going to be a tough track back but I'll get there. Running is definitely the best I've experienced for weight loss & my body seems to cope with it better so going to stick with that for a bit.

My mum actually ran in the Blue Mountains 50km Ultra Trail Marathon on the weekend which makes me feel a bit slack for where I've let myself get to :lmao

Good event up there. It's much bigger from when I did it back in 2011. Back then they only had a 100km race with maybe 700 runners.

Now they have everything from a 1km kids race up to the 100km race with 7,000 runners across the different distances. Incredible numbers for trail running.

Nice one mate, that is great progress.

Cheers HB. A friend gave me advice to keep my heart rate at 150 and you will just be able to run. Its a little slower but my time is getting better and im losing more weight

I'm struggling to imagine me ever wanting to run without a ball being involved.
I did join a gym for the first time in almost 4 years though

Sounds like the Maffetone method.

Losing weight is the best thing, running is the best exercise for that imo.
