From RLW:
  • Rugged Dane Sorensen had a superb game, while younger brother Kurt was replaced midway through the second half after taking the field with a rib injury. New Kiwi coach Graham Lowe was at the ground to watch the brothers.
  • Gavin Miller gained lots of ground with clever kicking in the first half, though Cronulla didn't take full advantage of the strong southerly.
  • Terry Murphy scored in the 22nd minute from a mistake by Norths fullback Larry Kelly.
  • Norths prop Keith Harris was sent off in the 61st minute for a high tackle on Carney, and Cronulla were able to take advantage with tries to Gardner and Dane Sorensen.
  • Rookie Ettingshausen played a major role in Gardner's try, and together with Hardy and Burnes, has given the Sharks' fans some outstanding talent to follow.
