- Cronulla were shell-shocked by a brilliant team effort from the Bulldogs, and looked like losing by 30 at 17-0. But to their credit, the Sharks hit back late with two tries.
- Rogers, so often the inspiration, had an off day at lock.
- Gary Wright looked zippy at times, but the Bulldog defence was too good.
- Fullback Greg Brentnall was the star for Canterbury, with some sensational high-catches.
