With it looking likely both fifitas will be out next week it'll be interesting to see if tagataese gets a reprieve or houma gets a run

Heard the Cont Call team discussing this with Flanno this arvo; he mentioned Taga and someone else but it didn't sound like Houma.

Anyone thought we should have had a minute silence last night for Richie benaud?

Yes, prior to kick-off I was wondering if they would. Considering he passed away that morning, I think it would have been the appropriate time for a public show of respect.

Why should they?

I don't understand your argument, B&B.
Because it's not Rugby League? Why bother with the likes of Anzac Day, cancer or Indigenous rounds which have nothing to do with it either.
Richie has been the face of Australian cricket commentary for all my live, and is held in the highest regard by the vast majority of the community.
There would be very few of us that can recall a time before Richie graced our TV screens.
In saying that, I doubt I'd be in a hurry to show respects to the current crop of league commentators.

Actually, now that you've typed it, Ev, I think he said "Jason", so maybe he or Taga will get the call up.

Yes , i would say Taga and Bakuya to come in.

The only problem with this is that when Jason comes on at right edge, Lewis will go back to being a battering ram in the middle.

I have quite enjoyed watching Lewis playing a strong 80 minutes on the right edge over the past 2 weeks , looked dangerous.

Or just plain ordinary.

If this is true, and from what we have seen for 6 weeks it is hard to argue, then play Gordon at right centre , allowing Holmes and Barba to start.

As Ben Elias famously said once " its not rocket surgery" .

I haven't been impressed with him at all till this game

Still not impressed.
Runs to the line and stops, easy target and no line breaks. Average defence.

If we had of started the year with Jack Bird in his position I'm sure we wouldn't be 2-4 now.

You really think it was all beales fault we lost our first 4 games ? Yeah he wasn't great but to single handedly blame him for any of the losses is a bit much

So we're down Barba and both Fifitas for next week which probably means 3 forwards come into the team. I can't seeTaga playing in FG again after being dropped so quickly, so maybe Arona, Bukuya, then it's either Roqica/Houma/Dillon. Would like to see Dillon get a run.

I am not single handedly blaming him for the losses. Of course he is not to blame for the 4 losses.
I am just saying he would have bought more upside to the team than Beale had in those games and given his past 2 weeks we may have secured a victory or two.

Just like if we had of started with Holmes on the wing instead of Brown we would probably have beaten the Raiders.
Holmes would have scored where Brown got tackled.

There is a very good chance we would have beaten canberra and the gold coast if Holmes and Bird had been selected from round one.

The conservative selections of Brown in round 1 and Graham at 6 in round 4 were poor.

A selection here or there could well have got us over the line in those close games , even allowing for our poor handling in those early rounds.

I guess the jury is still out on Beale, although Flanno,s description of him as "all class" is clearly a bit rich on exposed form.
