From RLW:
  • The Sharks have rarely controlled a match 'up-front' with such authority. Behind such an authoritative pack, the halves had a picnic.
  • Dane Sorensen led the way, and again looked the best grafting front-rower in the game, as he so often does. His charges down the middle of the ruck were a constant torment to Easts - Dane and 'little brother' Kurt had a picnic.
  • Cronulla led 15-2 with thirteen minutes to go, after two slick tries to Rogers, which showed that his knee problem is not a major handicap at this stage. The second, however, should have been disallowed for a knock-on.
  • Mick Mullane was unlucky to be denied a penalty try when tackled without the ball on the try line.
  • Gary Wright's sharp display was capped by a spectacular 65-metre solo try.
  • Ricky Walford scored two consolation tries for Easts.
