YES!!!!!!

Great game tonight. I thought in the first half we played well but didn't kill them off. We showed a lot more heart tonight then we did against the Knights especially when we came back from 7-6. Did not expect that at all. I noticed Toops played well, his hitups are always good to see. Hotdog's try at the end was the cherry on top!

Well done Sharkies.
Whilst Souths have some work to do this win should give Cronulla some encouragement to keep going.
Look forward to see both teams play again this year.
any suggestion that the rabbits tanked it?

i don't recall many second phase plays from your guys tonite
Perhaps it was our dominant defense, what's your upshot?

Are you serious? He was tough but how exactly was he better than Friz or DeGois? The kid is tough but gee he offers nothing in that backline.
very serios teff...showed more balls than our whole side last week. And I agree that he offers nothing in the backline....but if he or williams stuffed up just once tonight, the rabbits would have steam rolled all over us....but they did not give them the slightest chance.....credit where credit is due my man

Not denying he played well but I couldn't say he was the best on the field and he did drop that ball on the first tackle 10 out. He is a tough ****ing cookie I'll give him that.

Wright blew a try with his Lack of pace and then dropped it.

De Gois was back to his best tonight

You are right on both counts. Gards scores that try ten times out of ten. DeGois tackling was the best hitting I've seen all year.

Very happy with the win but we need to do some serious work on variety on the last tackle.
If you're going to put up the bomb you need to have chasers who compete for the ball.
Thought Leutele has a good game tonight and his defence really improved.

just how you look at it I suppose but sometimes its not what you do to win that count s but what you do to not lose and after last weeks effort he just really impressed me tonight, but that takes nothing away from friz who had a blinder

Great win.

To those who thought it was a bad game:

The error rate was normal and they're weren't many penalties. Both teams turned up, Souths were just a bit off and our blokes were a bit down on confidence.

Regardless, any side with Jeremy Smith and Paul Gallen in the pack with Jeff Robson and Matt Wright at 7 and 1 are always going to try and win big games by grinding it out.

Especially against a Club who are renowned for being a bit soft in the head and who got bashed up by Manly last week.

It was honest football. Make all your 1 on 1 tackles, hold on to the ball, kick and chase well, control the ruck. Things that Souths don't always do well.

I sometimes get the feeling that many here complain mostly because the way this side plays (or the way certain players play) doesn't fit their personal 'idealized' model. If that's it, you're missing the point.

Winning is the goal, nothing else. You don't get extra points for scoring from further out, having thrown more passes or for doing backflips once you get across the line.

If this wasn't a winning season, then the naysayers may have a point. But the fact is they've beaten every other side in the 8 apart from the Dogs and the coaching staff have done it by putting together a system that suits this group. Once the plan is settled then its all about effort and execution.

The effort was back tonight. The execution must improve- Graham back in the 17 will help, as will the confidence they'll take from this. IMO they got the mix wrong and didn't take Souths on enough on the edges, but mostly it was there. Doing the basic stuff wins games.

Just win Sharks.

I thought it was actually a good game. Our defence was the best it has been in a fair while. Also Tupou and De Go is were on fire which was great to see.

Also frizwas a beast. Living up to the hype people gave him before he signed with the goons.

I see where you are going AB but it was a bad game. A ****ing **** game to watch until the 70th minute or so. I was watching thinking that if it wasn't a Sharks game I would have turned it off at half time. If we turn up in the finals in that form we will be toast no matter how much you want to spin it. I'm ****ing stoked we won and it almost certainly guarantee we play finals football but the scoreline flattered us.

I'm with you Tef. I said this to one of the guys at the pub.
IN the first week of the finals if we persist with this predictable, one-out, inside pass and then kick to no-one we'll be on a hiding to nothing.
We need variety, a plan B for when teams counteract the one-out stuff like Newcastle did last week. I don't think we have a plan B.
If we do it's the best kept secret.

That's not how it works. The one out stuff is the foundation, not the centrepiece. Carney taking guys on cross field, Graham playing down the left blindside, Smith hitting his edge runners. That's where we get the points.

But none of that will happen without doing the hard stuff well which was the problem last week.

Edit: I agree that the kicking game needs work though. Still very, very mediocre.
