- Cronulla piled on four tries in the last 20 minutes to give an even match a very lopsided final scoreline.
- Easts looked good things at 19-14, before their star lock, Kevin Hastings, went from the field with concussion in the 60th minute.
- Dane Sorensen scored a soft try soon after, before strapping second-rower Dean Carney led the final charge.
- Carney tore through the middle of the ruck to send Anderson over, watched See burst down the right wing for a try, then did it on his own in the 76th minute, charging 60 metres to score a memorable try.
- Best for the Sharks were McNamara, Dane Sorensen and Mick Mullane.
