From RLW:
  • For the second time in two weeks, Kurt Sorensen performed a rescue mission for the Sharks. Kurt came good when the pressure was on - another typical charging try gave Cronulla the break over an unlucky Penrith. Then it was Sorensen who launched himself through the air to bowl Craig McMahon into touch almost on full time - saving the game.
  • Penrith had four near misses on the line.
  • The intensity of the battle was a tribute to both teams in the cruel heat at Penrith Park.
  • Little Perry Haddock showed great courage after being sickened by four heavy tackles. It was his slippery try down the blind side late in the first half that kept Cronulla alive when they were down 8-2.
  • Beckett at one stage led the scrums 12-3.
  • The game finished on a worrying note for the Sharks with news of a knee injury to Rogers.
