From RLW:
  • For a team sporting 'a few rough edges,' Cronulla-Sutherland executed a pretty neat demolition job on the Bears.
  • Cronulla played with a lot more purpose than in the previous week's thumping by Penrith.
  • The Sorensens and Khan put in some powerhouse running to cleave openings in the defence.
  • The halves, Haddock and Forrest, and the fleet-footed Mullane brothers swept through the gaps in some lively movements.
  • Not even the second-half loss of Steve Rogers, who suffered concussion during a pile-up in front of the North Sydney posts, lost any momentum for Cronulla.
  • Cronulla's hero was young hooker David Laming, playing his first full first-grade game, who waltzed away with the scrums 18-11.
  • Mick Mullane sprinted up from the custodian's spot to score two tries, Berne provided solidarity with his hurtful tackling, and Rogers was in promising form before his head-knock.
