  • Terry Lamb led raffle-ticket team, Western Suburbs, to a runaway victory. The Magpies rebounded well after their second-rower, Bob Cooper, was suspended during the week for 15 months, for his part in an all-in-brawl against Illawarra the previous weekend.
  • The Sorensen brothers, perhaps with their hearts at Lang Park with their Kiwi countrymen (they were stopped by the club from participating), played some of their poorest football. For those concerned about the International level, Cronulla's heavy defeat was delicious.
